I've recently dinged BST40 and would like to use /bst to solo other jobs to 40 also.

Does anyone have any other advice or viable job suggestions to lvl as /bst?
I was thinking probably WHM, RDM and maybe NIN & DNC. Any ideas?

Re: Solo EXP/hr
For subjob BST, you can almost nearly follow the same camps as you did as normal BST.

Everything else is much the same, except you don't get Leave until Level 70. Otherwise, the same rules/basics apply. With any other job subbing BST, you'll have pretty much more or less a better chance of surviving. For example, using RDM, if you mischarm, simply bind/gravity it. And try again. Likewise, for WHM, your strong stoneskin will probably make it through a few hits before it goes down, enough time for you to charm again.

For NIN, if you mischarm, simply blink tank it and try again. DNC, I'm not 100% sure, but maybe make sure you have some TP to recover.

With RDM, it's possible to sleep/bind/gravity links, buying you enough time to find another pet or charm that and go ahead EXPing.

Pet wise, because you haven't got Leave, best to charm something, fight as usual. You'll most likely win with a pet at 10%~ HP left. In this case, what you should do is go find a new pet, and put your old pet on it to attack, then run out of radar range of both pets, use heel, and let your intended next pet kill your old pet. Then charm it, and continue.

Oh, if your NIN, RDM, WHM and DNC is still Level 1-10, I suggest just soloing to 20 without the use of subjob BST. (UNLESS, it worked for you with normal BST, but I don't like how pets are so weak between levels 1-20 I prefer to just get some meds/food/regen drinks and rampage against Easy Preys and such).

Anything else you're unsure of let me know. I'm assuming here that you soloed BST to 40 without much help/assistance.

I'm guessing that I could just use the same camps and simply arrive later and stay later, or do you think it's alright to just go there at the same levels?

Yeah, I figured that it would be best to level the other jobs to 40 before I got used to using 'leave' on BST main. That could be hair-tearingly annoying. hehe

Hmmm. Going from memory, I think RDM34, WHM20, NIN12 and DNC1. So yeah, I'll most likely do RDM & WHM first, then solo NIN and DNC to 20 before starting them next.

Thankyou, I most certainly will. And yes, pretty much solo except for a BST duo for 32-35 until we got 'leave'.

Re: Solo EXP/hr
XP for solo BST is really pretty bad overall until you hit 62 and get to ToAU camps. 2k xp/hour is normal, it can be even worse some levels.

Re: Solo EXP/hr
It gets better I promise you. After 45 i really cannot remember where i went, but whne you hit 55 go to Bostaineux Oubliette. Ridiculous xp there. At 58, go behind gate 2 in garliage citadel (you dont need 4 ppl just need WoTG, look up Lycopodium (NPC)), and kill hellmines. Its exp and gil from coffers. After that, this is where i am at, go to ulesomething range. Kill snoll with T bunnies. Yes they cut into your xp slightly but its about 3.5k an hour, and improves to 4.5k/hr at 60 when the bunnies are all EM.

Happy experiencing.

Re: Solo EXP/hr
About 2 days ago I hit 66 and was 500xp into the lvl.

Yesterday, me and 2 other bsts formed a trio party (1-66 and 2-67s) and killed Elder Goobbues at The Boyahado tree. We stayed there for about 4 hours and I was able to use my anv. band 4 times.

normally we dont stay that long but the xp was flowing in. I ended up getting around 30k xp in the 4 hour session.

so if you take away the xp bonus (30,000 - 12,000) that mean we got about 18,000. Comes out to roughly 4,500/per hour.

As already mentioned...you're going to have some slow levels and some fast levels.

Re: Solo EXP/hr
This post has been very for me, as I've been wondering if I should take up the BST reigns or not.

Thanks everyone!

EDIT: Though I do have one question that may pertain to this:

What do BSTs do for merits? LIke where do they go, what's the exp per hour generally, etc.

Bibiki Bay in a duo at 75 is where I go for merits (rarely).

There's no true good camp at 75 where you can chain/EXP at a decent rate.

It's sad to say, once you hit 75 as BST it's kinda annoying/depressing compared to the other levels.

Re: Solo EXP/hr
... well, Campaign ... although convenient, doesn't tickle my fancy =p

I prefer to be active/moving around and some danger XD, but yes it's an option nonetheless.

Re: Solo EXP/hr
Yeah it's pretty boring actually. I get about 85 EXP every 30 seconds casting 6 buffs and resting. It's fast EXP but MAN do I get sick of it quickly.

Re: Solo EXP/hr
Campaign isn't the best option unless your close to or have already capped the skills pertaining to your job. I'm considering Campaign on BST only because I'm close to capping axe anyway, but really only because I dropped my current build for gear on Kitten and the level 68 Fourth Division set looks to have good STR options to replace it with, though I'd still subsititute hand and body for something else.

Levelling BST for me is just as much about making gil and farming seals, though, so I'd never use Campaign as a long-term means of levelling up.

I've scoffed at some mage friends for using campaign as a means to level because now they're getting to 75 on jobs like SCH with Elemental hardly capped and Enfeebling, Healing, Dark and Enhancing down in the mid 100s or lower. I could campaign DNC to 75 no problem just because I have no skills I really need to concern myself with capping, I practically capped dagger though COR and RNG and there's no other real skills to concern myself with since levelling other jobs got evasion capped as well.

To me, levelling up is a meaningless venture if you didn't get your skillups along the way. Now that I'm looking at PLD, I have to consider that my Parrying, Healing, Divine and Shield skill would suffer for Campaigning EXP.

I’ve only received 2-3 merits so far so I’m not exactly sure where the BEST places to go are. Imps in CM are decent spot for meriting (if soloing or duoing). Although it takes an average of 3 pets to solo one...meaning mischarms can be dangerous. I don’t care for this camp that much though. It’s usually very crowded and sometimes hard to pull. You can’t really fight with your pet because it will lose hate very easily...and imp TP moves (amnesia for one) pretty much equals death if you need to swap a pet.

I've also spent some time in Den of Rancor (zone in eastern Yoat jungle) which is decent at best. Pucks vs Tormentors. One puck can usually take out 2 lizzys. So you can get some chains going. I would avoid pet swapping during a fight since pucks seem to be resistant to charm. So far this is my favorite spot. All the lizzys are even match or higher so no DCs to break the chain. Pucks are good pets and the area can hold probably 2 parties yet people rarely ever go there.

at both spots I seem to average out around 2000/hr.
