Just a quick question here. I think I'm going to start leveling BST as I hate waiting for parties on my DRK at higher levels.
How fast do you gain EXP soloing with a bst, compared to say, an average party with all 6 members.
Will a full party always level faster then a BST or with the sub-recent patches to pets not taking exp, can you solo just as quickly? Thanks. -Lionheart

Well, group exp is always going to be faster. But you have the advantage of not having to wait around for a party. So it will maybe even out a little bit. But the advantage is still on the party side. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 10-05-2007, 11:13 AM | #3 (permalink) | The BBQ Kitten Revolution FFXIWiki Team Join Date: May 2006 Location: Windurst Posts: 4,574 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 158 Thanked 1,265x in 705 Posts Gil: 36,354 Bank: 11 Total Gil: 36,365 Donate | Re: BST levelin pace. You will not solo EXP as quickly as you could gain it in a PT.
But in a few levels you will have more beastmen seals than you would get in several levels of partying. And that's not even getting into the Kindred Seals later on. Plus your pet won't bitch at you about your gear.
Just something to think about. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | The following user says "Thank You" to Omgwtfbbqkitten for above post: | | | 10-05-2007, 11:40 AM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 195 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 1 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 3,828 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 3,828 Donate | Re: BST levelin pace. Depending on your current level that's possible, but if you're just starting out with BST, having never done it before, you may not reach your goal in time.
Still, it doesn't hurt to try.
edit: Allow me to amend that to "probably won't". | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 10-05-2007, 11:46 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 195 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 1 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 3,828 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 3,828 Donate | Re: BST levelin pace. As it stands now, my BST is lv2, WHM18 NIN18 WAR37. So subwise, I've got some catching up to do. Luckily it's not to hard to get groups quickly with Ninja or White Mage, so I shouldn't have to much downtime there. -Lionheart

Really, I stopped pushing myself to get BST to 75 before WotG for one reason:
I felt like I was about to cheat myself of a lot of fun exploration and the opportunity to provide data on the new zones. The team on WotG is also the team that did Chains of Promathia and the CoP team did a killer job with zones for BST in that expansion, probably some of the best and most varied BST levelling zones came about in CoP, so I have a good feeling about WotG zones. ToA was kinda "meh" in terms of BST camps, too many uncharmables.
So I'm just pushing for 66 for Reraise from /WHM and a really nice buffer, then its off to level subjobs. Promies and the Phomiua Aquaducts at least, otherwise you'll miss out on an nice, quiet camp at 39-42. Site Riverne A01 was a lovely camp, but only accessible if you're on CoP 2-5. Not the fastest EXP, but no PTs will invade it to EXP since its considered a mission zone.
That's another nice thing about BST, you can go to the places PTs would normally be scared to touch. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 10-05-2007, 03:01 PM | #10 (permalink) | | <3 Duo/Trio Join Date: Apr 2007 Posts: 159 Style: Light - Version 5 Thanks: 9 Thanked 22x in 18 Posts Gil: 6,442 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 6,442 Donate | Re: BST levelin pace. I wanted to exp there, since Movalpolis is always under beastmen control. I ended up doing Wajaom Woodlands Bees/Spiders vs Puks.
By the time you get to a level where you could potentially do any solo exp in Oldton or Newton, you'll probably find that you've taken enough abuse from the grind that you'll want to stick to the better exp camps. Lyonheart
