Beastmaster

The duration for which a beastmaster can maintain a pet invoked with the "Call Beast" ability will be extended. The new length of time, though varying depending on the type of pet brought forth, may be up to 90 minutes.
Additionally, when not engaged in combat, pet healing will be possible through use of the "Stay" ability. Finally, the experience penalty previously incurred by a beastmaster while using a charmed monster will be done away with.

This update will almost have a big of impact on the bst community as the MPK update, Our jug pets will be bit more useful, we not can rest our pets like ever other Pet class out there and the biggest thing ofcourse NO EXP PENALTY WOO, thats such a big thing we will see more beasts in partys because the exp penalty jug pet myth will be killed for certin now, Soloing will be more effiecient like if u accidently dont hit ur leave macro in time no exp cut.

On the flip side we may start to lose our identity as minority job, were likely to see a big out break of new beast masters and we may fall into a generic position as another partying job for the masses.

Id love to see other peoples oppinions on how the update will effect them

I am waiting to see the new durations. Most likely CC will be 90 minutes. I am hoping all of the HQ versions will also be the same.

As for the xp loss negation, it is about time. I don't think it ever should have been there to begin with.
I don't think charming in parties will be feasible, as it usually isn't now, but soloing will be nice. Especially now that you don't have to release to finish off the mob. This will also help before 35 as you wont need to ghetto leave as much. THough I am guessing you will still lose charm partway through the second fight.

This will be mega for me, Ive just hit 23 and cant wait to get my crabby CC tonight - now come Tuesday when I play as BST, I wont have an xp loss.

I cant believe, honestly, although I am really stoked about it, that they've improved BST this much without giving it a negative aspect.

- no xp penalty
- improved call beast times
- pet healing

As a new BST on the block, Im thrilled at these changes because the game just got a bit easier, purist BSTs might not like this so much I dont know. It's like when the prommy runs became easier, a lot of people were upset by that - this may just seem like Squeenix turning down the difficulty yet again.

It'll be interesting to see how others see it.

YES YES YES FREAKING YES! I love this. People I've been talking to were standing strong with the idea that BST would be neglected in this coming update.... NO FREAKING WAY! I know I got wehat I wanted for Christmas..... I mean August!

They're all useful ... I'm no BST (mostly), but I note that none of them is in any way a change in effectiveness in combat (even if XP is returned to full). It makes your life easier overall, but doesn't help you win the fight ... so there may not be much to complain about in terms of the "In MY day..." stuff.

Well if currently if u use leave all the hate from ur pet goes onto you, so say you use leave when ur pets @2% hp remaining, ur thinking yeah 2% i can take it down, then lets say its a gob u get bomb toss'd or goblin rushed or u just keep missing, potentialy if u had allready been fighting with not full hp some cercimstances result in death or almost death potentialy killing exp chains, if u dont have to use leave u dont have to worry about the hate on u and not being able to take down the last % by urself

I can see it working during normal parties under the right circumstances. If the right zone/camp is picked, you could hunt for a good EM pet before the party gets going. You'd want to pick one that isn't too difficult to charm, since you'll be having to recharm often enough. And since they're doing away with the exp penalty, you can keep it charmed through out each fight.

Charm duration on an even match is approximately 4.5 minutes before any bonuses from +charm gear. To keep it from uncharming during a fight, you would wait until you're between fights, and then use Leave followed very quickly by Charm. If your pet took some damage during the fight, you would follow up with Stay to make sure they get to regen some health. If the regen from Stay isn't enough to keep pace with the damage being taken, we can try to make up for the difference with Reward.

Just gotta hope stay works like healing on leaved mobs, where they get like 15% and up a tick, u add that with Reward and rewards regen effect and it might be a bit more useful.

But what i think it will make way for is smaller parties, SE has stated they want to make smaller parties have a larger oppertunity then having to wait out for 6 players etc, like with the signet EXP bonus's, you could take a BST, WHM, Tank ( not saying this combo would work just throwing an example out and maybe a DD and party off VT's instead of IT's and if ur able to fight VT's ur likely to be in a zone where EM's are up for charming.
