Slight Problem
This "Ghetto Leave" mentioned in the bst bible doesnt seem to be working very well for me. Basically i charm EM/DC and send them after EM/T and wait a few seconds for hate to build up then I engage in melee or cast dia to help out my pet, I then disengage and wait til hate is back on my pet. When i Heel my pet the mob comes after me and desnt finish off my pet like it said. I even wait to see if it does but still no luck...Any ideas what im doing wrong?

Re: Slight Problem
Did you run way outside of hate-gathering range before using Heel? If you are far enough so that the mob is outside of your radar, you can do just about anything without getting more hate. Just using Heel gains some hate, so you have to use those abilities from far away.

Also, you didn't mention anything about using Stay. Are you using Stay immediately after Heel as part of your Ghetto Leave? It's nice to keep the mob and your pet away from you as the mob finished off your pet. Mobs have a way of firing off nasty AoEs while they're standing nearby.

Re: Slight Problem
Why even use the ghetto leave trick? Why not take a mob thats d/c or evan match an just melee with it an slaughter everything.

When you get close to having it lose charm on it. Use stay an find a new pet to kill it with. Sometimes doing this the former pet despawns if your far enough away. Or when the pet is close to death an your ready for a new fight. Send your pet to start the next battle an locate another pet.

What i found out is that you waste more time trying to get ghetto leave to work. An put yourself at more of a risk.

But Lyons technique is how to perform the ghetto leave. Out of radar range is seeing the red dot on the last outside line, or on the other side of it. Also try to use ghetto leave after dia wears off. Otherwise as you ghetto leave, Dia will still be adding hate towards you instead of your pet.

Re: Slight Problem
As far as my experience with getto leave goes, you can't really meele much with your pet without getting to much hate.

Before 35 I pretty much only used dia, paralyze and slow. And the only fighting i did was when I did the killing blow.

Re: Slight Problem
What little ninja says is true.
I believe I did what little ninja says more than getto leave.
It's kind of too long ago to remember what I did below lv35...

Also, as Knumskull says, you can't really melee if you want to do getto leave.
When your hate is higher than the pet, the mob will hit you instead.
You get hate if you melee.

Re: Slight Problem
I ran into a whole different issue when I would lvl. I would charm em/dc and set it fighting em/t and my pet would always die around the time the mob hit 1/2 hp. So I would end up trying to find another pet and would have to settle on using ep pets to finish it off, cause everything in the area once I charmed a pet seemed to be ep or t. I could never understand it.

So I chose to lvl a different way for awhile I took about a weeks break from lvling and worked on my Cooking skills I would lvl my cooking skill on jugs whenever I could and I would send the stacks to my mules. Then when I was ready to go lvl I would find and area that was full of ep/dc mobs and go to town with my jug pets. By the time my jug died I the timer was up and I could just call another one.

I think I just ended up in camps that sucked for me.

Re: Slight Problem
Another thing I've found with ghetto leave (Bst 25) is that you can be hugely far away and have your pet commands work.

However that said, if you ghetto leave and your mob is too far away it may de-spawn before it gets to you.

I myself like to get my pet to attack, land a couple solid hits and then Dia the mob. Back away and rest mp (I love the new signet change) and come back in near the end if it looks like my pet needs help. I also found that by getting that little bit of rest time in, if I want to mellee my pet has enough hate to not worry to much about turning the mob often.

One thing I've found is there are multiple ways to play this job and everyone of them works. I've been trying to work through a few different methods just to see what I like and what works best for me. Right now I usually charm dc/em pets and go after T's. I have on occasion charmed a T, 2 hr'd it and then gone all killing-spreee through the zone targeting ep/dc.

Re: Slight Problem
For me there was always some problem i came to when i tried ghetto leave. I just would end up diching it. Things like backing away an getting agro. Having the pet heel to me id grab aggro.

To the OP everyone here has ways that ghetto leave will work An things to do to avoid it. Keep testing til something works. Also id like to add that ghetto leave works different depending on where you at.

Re: Slight Problem
I don't know how much time people has to play, but soloing as /BST, for subjobs to 37, I only have 2-3 odd hours (a day) to play. By charming DC or something and ploughing through EPs, the EXP band makes up for the slight cut in EXP and you'll get EXP fast. The DC pet seems to keep hate if you lower your weapons/gear a bit.
