Re: exp strategies
first of all, sub white mage. it's the best for soloing.

second, don't bother to start charming things until around level 12 or so. just solo like any other job until then.

starting at level 12-ish, charm decent challenge or even match mobs to fight easy prey. get experience by killing easy prey fast. you may or may not want to melee next to your pet. it's faster, but also more danerous. personally, i found it better NOT to melee next to my pet, in case the pet de-charmed.

don't try to charm a tough mob. it'll kill you and i'll laugh.

some good starting advise for the lower levels.

Re: exp strategies
Make sure you know your surroundings, if you charm an EM or a T and it fails, make sure you know where you could run to and charm a lower level mob to attack it. Even if you know that the newly charmed mob will get demolished, this gives you time to run to a zone. >.> Dont get too frustrated, from levels 10-20, you can easily get stressed because you may die a lot until you get in the habit of letting your pet maintain hate, and then jumping in to finish the mob off as your pet dies as well. When you get the hang of which pets will come just short of killing the target so you could finish it for full xp and which will just get raped, the xp will start coming in nicely. So, have fun with it, and dont quit just cause you died a few times right off the bat, it happens to us all.

I wish i could level bst more often, but with the time i have to play every day, most of it is spent seeking for pt's and then partying. >.<

Most people don't make it past lvl 25 with bst unless they REALLY want to. Do not try to go for the touger enemies for better experience early on as you will only be wasting time. Chaining EM's is the fastest way to get exp up till 35. When you are still low level you will only be getting about 2-3k an hour max. But even in the 20's that means if you stay safe and grind it out you can gain a level in 2 or 3 hours. It can be boring on your own but when you get a flow going in a camp you can really start to like bst.

Don't use the first link after 35 because many of the hunting grounds listed don't work anymore.

Re: exp strategies
I'd like to level BST, simply because of the peace, and nice various camping spots . But not alone. Preferable duo-ing with a friend. Would 2 Beastmaster be a bad choice? Or what job would level better together with a BST? Maybe Drg/rdm or Drg/whm ?

Re: exp strategies
duoing BSTs are great. all the fun of BST without the threat of death.

as for what other job to duo with BST, only BST and possibly SMN/whm.

Re: exp strategies
RDM/NIN make pretty decent duo partners especially post 40. Their enfeebling will make the fights a LOT more even. One EM pet + RDM/NIN + BST can take out VTs pretty regularly. Most RDMs would be stoked to be able to melee.
