Well I got BST today and I feel in love with the job ^^ I just got some questions. Due to my massive HP and my fairly poor MP do I go with MP food? and MP Gear? Or should I just use my RSE hands and feet?

Also wondering what type of equip sets you guys have?

I was thinking a CHR equip to charm and then a ACC equip when fighting.

Which is more effective? Scythe or 1 handed Axe?

As an elvaan BST, I've never, ever, used MP+ gear or food. This has its problems, for example: I was duoing and my partner died, but I did not carry any MP+ gear or food, so I could not raise him.

I actually have +109HP in my gear, and it pays off. I was reduced to about 80HP a few nights ago - without this gear, I'd have died.

I value HP more than MP. As an elvaan, your natural MP should be enough to get you by acceptably. You may want to carry some MP+ items though, in case you need to Raise someone.

Oh, and:

Use CHR+ gear for charming, and att/acc for meleeing. Not too much att though, as you may pull hate from your pet. It's best not to melee until level 30ish btw.

And as I said above you might want some MP+ gear, but personally I don't have any.

Use an axe. You can skill up scythe if you want to, but try to cap axe first.

If you do carry +MP gear, I recommend you macro it in with a /heal macro if you have the palette space, and especially if you already have one for Dark Staff medding. That way when you get up, it's like a free Blink or Stoneskin.

I found out the hard way about trio'ing with a BST with low mp ; ;

My usual Taru BST partner came as /NIN, and the other guy (I think was Hume) only had 96 MP. I dont know how he only had 96 MP at level 61, but he did. Anyway, I came close to HP'ing before a WHM came by and Raise 2'ed me.

Really, not being able to raise is the biggest downside of having low MP. Everything else is managable. Just carry some electrum rings. That will give 40 extra MP... that should be plenty.
