Sub Lvling becoming overbearing? - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

For all you guys that didnt lvl some sort of mage job from the start can probably feel where I'm coming from. Lvling Whm is the biggest pain I've had to put up with at the moment, dont get me wrong its easy, just sit back spamming cures. Then I gotta lvl Blm to sub onto my whm... /sigh I've been at this all week and only manage to get one damn lvl with Whm. Then I must have the ultimate bad luck for I am always dieing. Last night alone I went down to Qufim got a pt, went inside saw this guy getting mauled from a weapon, decided to help with cures, next thing I knew I'm my life is going down dramatically fast, and I am way out of the weapons range, I turn around 2 f'ing Banshee's behind me f*cking me up. I die pretty quick. Got raised. Got up to the hill after someone finally cleared the tunnel. We finnally got to fighting worms, midfight comes around we're doing well. I disconnect. I log back in, I'm lying fast down on the floor 0 hp :mad: . Got another Raise, asked what happend they say Giant aggro while I Dced, I'm halfway in between the cave entrance and out in the open bear in mind. So anyway after trying to figure out how the f'ck a giant came all the way in and aggro me of all the people there, I just gave up and went back to resting. Until my life came back to normal. Now pts are starting to pile up here. So I hid behind the rocks because I dont wanna rest in the cave near those bats. I have no idea what they aggro too. So I'm resting. Wham 65 dmg Worm AOE, I die again. Oh well. Not a rant on lvling subs just a pile of misfortune. Hopefully I can at least get a good pt tonight and I get to lvl 25 fast. Then good' ol kazam....

Wow, thats a shitload of bad luck

I did pretty well with my WHM leveling it. Not many, if any deaths at all. Er wait, I casted Benediction to save pt once and died, but that was something I could see coming.

ATM I am level 18, because that is half of 37 which is half of 75 (whm - blm - rdm) So I wasnt planning on EVER going back to WHM until I started leveling BST. Now I know I will have to. Think Ill put together a pt for Sauromungue beetles and fight those until 22, then head to Qufim and fight Clippers till 23-24. After that its pretty straight forward... many many deaths from Goblin Smithys

Honestly, a lot of our game playing falls into the leveling of subjobs for subjobs.

I'm especially plagued by this. Since I need WAR and THF subs for DRK. So I need to level both MNK and NIN. Luckily, both of those subjobs can use WAR, so there isn't any extra work added there. I'm also a RDM. So I need WHM and BLM subs. Again, thankfully, while leveling BLM I sub WHM, and while leveling WHM I sub BLM. So that works out, but still all that extra work to level subjobs.

I've also taken to leveling RNG. I already have WAR to Lv.20, but I still need NIN for that job as well. I think what I need to do is just labor through it and get every job to Lv.20. Get the frustration of Valkrum Dunes out of the way so I never have to worry about that damnedable place ever again!

Thanks man, you wouldnt believe this Bull though, I went home for lunch and I swear I had the best pt I prolly ever had in my 20's with any job! 2nin's, 1 brd, 1thf, and 2whms including me. Almost every fight no one took damage, ninjas spliting hate and utsusemi, bard playing, me siting back with almost nothing to do cause no one was being hurt really. Urgh! 4k+ Xp in the hour I had off for lunch! >< then I had to leave to go back to work. Lol I bet I wont have this kinda luck when I log on after work.

Ewww... 2 WHM in that group is such a waste. Take away a WHM and add a DRK or BLM or RNG and your exp goes from 4k/hr to 5k/hr. Why have 2 WHM when you barely need 1?

Too bad you had to leave though... (I bet they replaced you with a DD lol)

Yeh dude, I would've eventually suckered the other whm to leave if I wasnt on lunch and I actually had the time, but its Qufim, and didnt have much of a choice considering not much people was out there at that time

. So hows BST coming along? Sticking it out in korroloka still? Did you battle the NM Spider yet?

I had a reply written, but then when I went to post it I got the message "Server is busy at the moment" and when I hit ~back~ on my browser it was gone, so... meh..

Note to site admins... you can get rid of the messages from 2002-2003 now. Although some are useful, and bring back memories, its severely slowing this site down, and its become the absolute shits. It seems to get worse every day. PLEASE fix it.

Usually the "Server is buys at the moment" message only appears when FFXI is down. Everyone decides to come to FFXIOnline when it goes down.

Anyways, for me, my SJ is fine until they raise the cap until LV 132. :spin:

I actaully just gave up lving whm, I died about 7 times in dunes trying to get to lv11, and for some reason no one seeks in maze anymore, I dont care, im gunna luse rdm sub. Gotta problem wit dat?

my opinion on subs.. they're very useful to have up to date. It adds a lot of versatility. A group that I was with kept getting our butts kicked on bc 50, so we came back with two of the people on rdm instead, and the rest up us with our nin subs, then did fine. You're welcome to use whatever you'd like to while playing, but you may wish at times that you had other abilities, it's simply nice to have those abilities available to you.
