I strongly suggest that if you charm don't wear the red sash it the hate will always bounce to you faster than your pet (which you want in the opposite scenario).

Its best that you melee and don't charm until 7-10.

Its a rough business exping at lower bst lvs alone since we rely on pets

I suggest not charming in these beginning levels...

Use this short time to farm crawlers and bees for silk threads/beehive chips so you can save up for upcoming equipment. You can also farm wild onions in the Ruins which sometimes sell for a nice profit on AH to the players leveling cooking.

Once you get to 5 or 6, charm something DC (like a crab) and have it walk around with you. Stuff dies SO fast, and you need so little exp to level, that the pet exp tax will only minimally matter. The crabs hit quickly for 3 or 4 damage a hit, which isn't much, but does add up.

Think of it as extended crystal farming time rather than slower levelling, plus you get to have some risk-free mischarm/charm timeout practice.

If you're using the exp ring, the pet tax won't be noticeable anyway.

Charming is optional, just pop melee food and go nuts. Either that or take the time to learn basic mob vs mob, 1 of lower level, 1 of higher, elementary BST tactics. Keep in mind no CHR gear unti l14, and that I said to just straight up melee. No whining when you get killed.

Thats not really true, lvl 11 rar/ex ribbon gives 2 chr, dropped of a rabbit NM in east sartabarta, next to the bottom right tower.
