Level: 60,61,...(still here at 61)
I used Death Caps [60-63] and Bark Spiders [60-63] against Spiders, Mourioches [62-68], and Moss Eaters [62-66].
Camp: Basically, you can camp anywhere east of the Aquarius room due to the abundance of pets. However, I personally like the little room in
J-10 of the first map.
This place was pretty refreshing and laid back after Toraimarai Canal.
At 60, I started off using Death Caps against Spiders (Silence Gas and Dark Spore dealt some pretty nice damage: I was seeing anywhere from 200-500+ on these). Also, Spore (Paralyze) and the Blind status from Dark Spore are pretty nice too.
On the other hand, I found Sickle Slash could reach 500+ on my pets, plus the Killer (intimidation) effect of Spiders vs. Funguars (Vermin > Plantoid)

. I decided to try Spiders vs. Death Caps to use the correlation to my advantage, but found the Funguar TP moves to be too annoying to fight. So, I stuck with Death Cap vs. Spider.
With respect to the camp, I like J-10, because there are only two Funguars that wander in this little room. Thus, on pet swaps, a mischarm will not lead to 3-4 Death Caps pummeling you death (many of the other Funguar rooms have 3-5 Funguars in them, and I died several deaths due to a mischarm). You can tame your mischarm and wait out the spider hits until charm is back up. The only downside to the Funguars is that it took 10+ minutes to down convert them to EM’s sometimes.
Also, there are two spiders in this room, and they will link. I recommend swapping Funguars back and forth to shed the link until the first is dead. Then, you can kill the remaining Spider in the room. After both of these spiders are dead, you can pull spiders from the south (three wander the tunnel south of this room, and two more wander in the side tunnel passing between J-11 and K-11). I found that after five/six spiders the first one respawns.
All-in-all, I would say this is a wonderful camp. I consistently landed chain 3 here (a few unfortunate chain 1’s and 2’s, but a few refreshing chain 4’s).
At 61 here, I continued the same routine of Funguar vs. Spider, but then got adventurous >D, and tried Spider vs. Mandy (Vermin > Plantoid) in this same camp. I found this doable, but wasn’t too impressed. It can take two pet swaps to take down one of the higher level mandies here, and sort of killed chaining. Then, another correlation hit me: Plantoid > Beast (Funguar vs. Rabbit).
This results in some real nice chains; usually, one Funguar could take down a bunny, allowing me to jump in and melee early on. The same Funguar Sic moves still did nice damage, and the intimidation factor was an extra bonus. Basically, I used the 2 Funguars in the J-10 room and pulled the bunnies from out in the Aquarius room.
Bonuses:
These mobs drop the coffer key, and pretty often. So, you can get your map (if you don’t have one already), or a decent chunk of gil (out of 6 coffers, I’ve netted 40,000+ gil, a zircon, and the map).
Although not as good as it used to be, but spiders drop spider webs (3k on my server). It’s not a lot of gil, but I got about 10 of them in total so far.
Also, I tried AQ at 60, just for kicks. He will eat a level 60 pet in no time, and then come and try to eat you (200-300+/hit). After throwing so many pets at him, it took more than 1 or 2 hits for my pet to grab hate; I had to duck out before I had permanent hate (

) on Aquarius.
