Bard as a sub class?

A few people on the beastmaster board (of all places) said that bards are really bad as a sub class. Is this true? Are bard songs really that weak without holding an instrument? Please fill me in because I was planning on using Bard as a sub class.

Bard as a sub class is bad. You can only sing with voice and no instrument is the first thing. Second you can only have 1 song effecting the pt where as if you were bard main class you can have 2 songs effecting each member of the pt. Thirdly, the good songs are at high level and with subing bard, the pt is not really getting much of a boost. I would rather have main bard. Maybe if you were RDM you can sub bard, but thats only class worth subing bard. Since RDM is support anyways, but other than that it is pointless to sub bard.
