DDs don't need /NIN for pulling, unless the mob has enhanced movement speed. Anyone with half a brain should be able to shoot a mob from max distance and run in a relatively straight line towards the camp; as long as you don't take any curved paths the distance between the puller and the mob shouldn't decrease, and even if it does, you have plenty of leeway.

Then again, not many people exp on tigers anymore either.

I don't know of any fast flies either, and I fairly recently pulled flies in Valkurm on RNG and COR without any particular problems (other than slow tanks, but that doesn't depend on mob movement speed).

All I've read is that +CHR +CHR +CHR is what you need to overcome resists, which means Monster Signa before Opo-opo Crown gives you a bunch more.

Am I doing something wrong trying to gear for +CHR? (I'd like to sell it, and get back my ~80K~ gil!).

What about Mary's Horn, should I abandon my efforts there or is it worth it for the Lullaby's resists? (Another giant chunk of change there, near 100K).

At the level you get Signa, base stats dont' make much of a difference anyway. By the time base stats start making a real difference, you'll have more affordable CHR options in the 40s.

Mary's Horn is awesome, even superior to Nursemaid's Harp for Lullaby accuracy, get the Mary's Horn.

Yeah I thought as much - of course if I sell the monster Signa I'll be more than halfway to Mary's (woops, scratch that - less than a THIRD - should check the AH before I talk out of school - 300K on Remora for Mary's - Well, I'll be leveling BRD again by - Um Thanksgiving?)...

Lesser Gaylas in Zitah drop more beastman blood more often. Way more often, actually. But I have no idea what level jobs you're working with while you farm.

If its BRD you're farming with, well...

A bit off the mainstream, but when I'm in a party fighting Colibris I switch my pull macro from Elegy to Threnody. Getting hit with a potent slow effect when you need to be recasting Utsusemi or Blink/Stoneskin all the time is BAD.

Careful, Lesser Gaylas drop Beast Blood, not Beastman Blood, and those are two completely different things since you NPC Beast Blood and sell Beastman Blood on the AH. It sounds as if she were farming leeches for Beastman Blood in Pashow. However, Beast Blood from Lesser Gaylas is a better farming target if Zitah isn't crowded.

That's what Erase is for! I still prefer them to have Elegy on them when I get back to camp, if the current mob is about to die within 2 seconds I just blink tank and start casting a buff instead of spending time on Lullaby.

This is technically true, but there are two things it doesn't take into account:

1. You can't get enough CHR at low levels to make a big difference anyway. Even if you could, no single item, including Signa, would contribute that much to it.

2. Your debuffs aren't that important anyway, especially pre-Elegy. You don't stage pull at that level, Finale is practically unresistable, so you're lowering the resist rate of... what, exactly? Bards are primarily useful for the powerful *buffs* they bring to a party. Bard debuffs are only a small fraction of their utility even at high levels, and an even smaller fraction at low levels.

Well, you probably don't have anything better to gear for. Bard is one of those jobs that very few pieces of gear do anything for you, and even fewer do anything important - most of your important abilities can't be improved by gear. So even more than for other jobs, gear *really* isn't that important.

Except instruments, which really are worth it if you use the associated song at all frequently.

On the other hand, at the levels you're at, you probably *don't* use Lullaby at all frequently - outside of BCNMs, you use it in desperate emergency situations or not at all. The price of Mary's Horn is driven up by high level stage-pulling bards, but you won't (or at least shouldn't) be doing that until at least the upper 50s. It's a nice toy for rich people with a couple 75s already, but not something you should expect to have on your first job any more than emperor hairpin, peacock charm, or Ochiudo's kote. (The impact on day-to-day effectiveness will almost certainly be far less than any of those notoriously extravagant items for the jobs that would reasonably wear them.)

So I wouldn't sweat the signa *or* the horn - if you have the cash sitting around, get the horn first, but if not, go with what you have. You should have the instruments for your commonly used songs like Madrigal and Minuet, and aside from that, there would hardly be a noticeable performance difference from going naked (except if you got hit by a Whirl of Rage or something, so wear something vaguely level-appropriate at least).

A bard's main strength isn't dependent on equipment - it's built into the job.

It isn't that bad, I don't remember getting hit more than once with Elegy on colibri camp (and that was because I was chatting while pulling so didn't notice Utsu was gone.)

What really sucked in that camp was when I couldn't pull faster because melee wouldn't believe me it would be faster if one of them took hate from me so I could get the next Colibri. So I had to time things so I could tank the colibri I had just pulled while they finished the one they where killing, which really slowed things down.

Now that I think about it my ISP died on me that time so I got out of the party earlier. <_<;
