BRD X2 or X3
So the husband and I are going to level BRD together. Will parties want 2 or even 3 BRD/WHM? I have another LS friend that wants to level BRD as well - we're all going to do the BRD quest together as well (static group). We really wouldn't start hanging out the search flag until about BRD 20 - is that too low or too high? Will we be able to stay together or do parties/alliances only want single BRD's?

Advice appreciated on BRD in general btw - read the guides and stickies so we know what we're getting ourselves into.

In some parties, 2 can be helpful. 3 however? What's the point of all that buffing if there's no one to actually buff?

You might find it a little difficult to get both of you invited into parties so you'll probably have to make your own groups.

2xBRD + NIN + 2xDD + some other support (take your pick of WHM, SCH, RDM, with a tendency to favor RDM post-48) is one of the better party configurations. It's almost never mentioned because finding a situation where you have such an embarassment of riches is so very rare, but it's happened to me a few times, and the results have always been worthwhile.

3 bards is too many, though.

I have been in a 2 BRD PT, and it was ok, but you cant alway get the jobs you want to make a 2xBRD PT good. Thats why I said more then one was to much.

Re: BRD X2 or X3
I'm not sure what you mean. What jobs do you have trouble finding that won't work with BRDx2? You just need a healer, a tank and two random DD. If you can't find a healer, a tank and two random DD then you shouldn't be starting a party anyway.

And I'd agree with that, but we're not talking about Corsair here (and it's not like BRD + COR is any more common than 2xBRD, unless you're the one playing the Corsair - which isn't under discussion in this thread).

But given the circumstances described of having at LEAST 2 bards available at all times, there's no reason not to green-light the combination. It's effective, it'll pull in just about anyone seeking that you want (tell someone you've got TWO bards in your party and they'll come grovelling at your feet begging for a chance to join), and it's at least AS effective if not MORE effective than most standard party setups.

Re: BRD X2 or X3
Thanks folks. I appreciate the input.

Seems as if we will mostly be making our own parties then - which isn't so bad, I'm getting pretty good at understanding party dynamics.

Sidenote to the BRD's out there - anything I should look out for? Since we'll be putting parties together as BRD/WHMx2, Tank, Main heal, DDx2 - any combos to shoot for/ Watch out for?

And COR, I've never played with a COR so I can't say one way or another.

Re: BRD X2 or X3
To the OP, BRDx2 parties are awesome if the puller is fast enough and you have enough mobs to kill.

Edit > It really depends on the tank available, but the good thing about having BRDx2 is you can make pretty much any DD combination work.

And about BRD+COR parties I guess I'll have to take BBQ's word for it, because the BRD+COR parties I've been in have been pretty much the same as BRDx2 parties.

Also... with 10 CORs total in all servers is not like it would make any difference.
