Okay, I've been debating wheter which of these jobs I will take. Too much of my considerations... (2 weeks of still thinking) i still can't find which one is the best or the more party-snatching job.
Since COR can basically be BRDs, sometimes BRDs get left out... then CORs get left out too... but idk... please help
i can't really decide..... i need some opinions and help ^_^

But ya try both and play what you like, which might end up being both who knows. You'll have a lot more fun playing a job because you enjoy it and want to then you will playing one just because it gets a lot of invites. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-30-2006, 06:42 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Senior Member Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Des Moines, Iowa Posts: 1,186 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 9 Thanked 12x in 11 Posts Gil: 1,461 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,461 Donate | Re: Bard or COR? Also, BRD is usually a support/healer, while COR is a support/DD (most people think the best combo is COR/RNG). So it depends on whether you want to play purely in the sidelines or if you want to get in there and punch the mob (so to speak). | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-30-2006, 09:21 PM | #6 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Posts: 28 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,201 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,201 Donate | Re: Bard or COR? hmmmm i think i'll go BRD then COR if BRD doesn't fit me!

Making a decision about a job based on its desirability in a party is a recipe for burnout. Play the job you enjoy the most. There's no point in being level 75 if you detest playing your job.

Icemage | Amen! I'm a 75 BRD and almost detest playing it in a party. It was fun up till 60ish, then I started realizing I was casting the same 4 songs every party every time. It got VERY boring. Once I hit 73 and started pulling it became a little more fun, but I much perfer my COR just because the damage I can do.
Also, COR makes a great recplament for BRD. If they'd give us Dispel we could pretty much put BRD out of the picture. I like COR buffs better for the DOuble Attack and Criticle Hit rate, if you have a THF and WAR in your party your double attacking almost every hit and criting every time, it's awsome. And also our Refresh CAN give 5mp a tick without 2hr, though more often then not it only gives 2, but we've got Healer's Roll, that in most cases is much more effective then Refresh. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-01-2006, 08:38 PM | #9 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Posts: 28 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,201 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,201 Donate | Re: Bard or COR? hmm COR i might try COR .... since they are very interesting, i still need to get BRD job too... lol thanks for the info guys! keep em comming with ur own opinions! | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-01-2006, 09:23 PM | #10 (permalink) | | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Canada Posts: 517 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 6,702 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 6,702 Donate | Re: Bard or COR? Icemage | Amen again!
I took BRD from 1-75 to kind of fill a gap in the job for my LS. What a mistake. 1-74 in EXP was very fun, but it eventually just fizzled out. It got boring. Elegy, Balladx2, Minuetx2, Finale, lather, rinse, repeat. OH sometimes I got to play Marchx2 or Mambox2. Aside from that, cure, cure, cure. Dynamis was a major headache, too. There were points in endgame where you have to give up your song bonuses and equip a damn harp in hopes you'll buff everyone before they run away.
I know these people I like to call "grinders," They pick whatever jobs are hot and level those to 75, one after the other, not much caring if they do things right. So long as they get an invite and another job to get endgeme gear for, they're happy. These are also usually the cheap jobs.
I wanted something a bit more risky for myself, not to mention something a bit more cathartic. BRD and RDM made me want to shoot people. For the longest time, I wanted the gambler class represented in FFXI and SE answered the call with COR ^^
COR is honestly the most fun I've had with any job in this game, possibly followed by RNG, BLU and DRG. COR isn't about consistancy, safety or living on the cheap. Its about taking the skills of others and gambling to enhance them. We don't debuff, we enhance a debuff already placed on the mob. We refresh job abilities.
Sure, working with PLDs, like BRD, is rather frustrating, but at the end of the day, I get to put bullets in something. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-01-2006, 10:06 PM | #12 (permalink) | | Junior Member Administrator Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 4,931 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 235 Thanked 683x in 348 Posts Gil: 30,859 Bank: 87,750 Total Gil: 118,609 Donate | Re: Bard or COR? | Originally Posted by Icemage | Making a decision about a job based on its desirability in a party is a recipe for burnout. I was one of those people who leveled brd to 75 just because I knew it was relatively cheap and easy to get invites.
Fortnuately BRD was definitly the job for me, didn't enjoy it 1-25, but then parties started getting competant and Igot through 20-50 in 6 days. Now I'm 75 and I'm loving every second of it. I'd say that even if you odn't think you'll enjoy either COR or BRD, might as well level it a little anyway, its easy enough to fall in love with.
On a side note, I didn't pull until I was level 73, and it is a blast, so as soon as you can, start pulling (at least in my opinion). BRD75 BST55 WHM44 NIN37 RDM36 WAR35 BLM34
MNK20 THF20 SMN17 DRG16 ... all others are <15, but >10.

Icemage | Couldn't agree more. Choose your favorite race and your favorite job.
It seems so many people don't know how to do this. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
