I'll be using an HQ light staff for songs, and a Joyeuse for soloing at engame levels. When I get my BRD to 70 my HNMLS will camp Char with me. They're also getting me a Minstrel's coat when my BRD is 62.
Some ppl think OMFG...why the hairpin? I think more MP helps BRDs better, seeing as how we make excellent backup healers. CHR won't be too low, and I'll be able to land my debuffs with the HQ light staff, so who cares. Just wanted to clear that up.
About instruments....I'm going +1 as much as I can, I know some are hard to get on my server, but I don't care, I'll farm as much as needed. | Faerie Hairpin is overrated. Trump Crown is way better, and that's a fact.
Minstrel's Coat is nice, but I haven't touched mine since I got access to Errant at 72. I can't tell any difference in resist rates, and Errant does have extra -Enmity.
Star Necklace has a hard time keeping pace with Wind Torque/String Torque, IMHO. But depends on what you're doing. I have all 3, and switch them out at need. If I could lay hands on a Fenrir's Torque, I'd definitely consider using that at night.
Melody Earring+1 is nice, but I'm rather fond of Healer's Earring for extended fights.
I'm not a huge personal fan of CHR gear end-game. Seems to me like no matter how much CHR I stack, if a HNM is resistant to something, my CHR won't matter much (with the single exception of Elegy). Shi'ar gear is nice, but it's lack of -enmity is a definite drawback in an long fight.

Neck: Star Necklace
Ear: Melody Earrings +1
Back: Jester's Cape +1
Waist: Gleeman's Belt

i think thats:
+60 CHR
-9 Enmity
+154 MP (291MP on a 75 Hume)
could use jse legs/feet or a torque who knows, its actually quite hard to find something 'original' in a bard equipment setup. 2. there is this think called downtime. people want to avoid downtime. If the whm is the only one healing without any support, their MP is going to dry up pretty fast (regardless of whether you manage to get both MP songs on him or not). This shorts the chains and lengthens downtime. this is bad. guess who we can blame for that?
3. you are adding unnecessary TP to the mob with very little benefit. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-02-2005, 11:11 AM | #22 (permalink) | | Drama Queen Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 979 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 2 Thanked 9x in 7 Posts Gil: 3,732 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 3,732 Donate | Re: Battlebard Questions If you pull hate from the tank, you must be level 5.

Besides...what WS are you going to use. Those 3 weapons don't really have any good WS till Spirit's Within (57) or Cyclone (43), which is useless without 300TP or is AoE respectively. Let's not forget that all Melee have a skill level of at least A in their respective weapon, excepting WAR using something other than Axe/Gaxe (why??), or a SAM using Polearm.
On the other hand, even with your small mp pool, pre RSE, you can still throw a few cures and if needed a Dia because it doesn't get resisted. As a support class, support the PT, don't waste time meleeing and giving the mob TP. And if you pull hate off the tank ever, disband immediately because he/she is trash. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-02-2005, 05:05 PM | #25 (permalink) | | Digital Wizard Super Moderator Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Florida, USA Posts: 6,018 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 69 Thanked 465x in 306 Posts Gil: 3,142 Bank: 108,404 Total Gil: 111,546 Donate | Re: Battlebard Questions | Originally Posted by Inais | | I dont understand the hole you cant sub /nin at any point if you do your a noob stance. And your bard is what level, exactly?
Not to say that there aren't times when /NIN sub isn't handy, but I don't think I've ever pulled hate off a tank without storing up 300TP for Spirits Within early in a fight, even with Joyeuse's extra attacks. The only time I've heard of BRD/NIN being honestly useful for XP is in sky parties with lots of rangers mowing down Weapons. Considering how much weaker rangers are post-patch, even that option is probably out the window these days, which leaves.. er.. Dynamis Lord?

even if you would do Spirits within like this one which i doubt
its still pretty useless in exp and using staves and equip swaps would comfort your party much more CoP=Complete RoZ=Complete ToAU=Mission 8 | Quote: | | Blade:Jin, a wicked badass 3-fold skill that totally outparses ridill WARs and Blackbelt monks and averages 700-1300. | | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-03-2005, 09:16 AM | #27 (permalink) | | Heartbreak Hero Join Date: Apr 2004 Posts: 577 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 41 Thanked 28x in 25 Posts Gil: 21,622 Bank: 5 Total Gil: 21,626 Donate | Re: Battlebard Questions in xp pt subz whm or w.e - but in helpeng ppl u shud sub /nin cuz you do dmg on lower lvl mob when xp mob r higher In the moonlight, your face it glows.. like a thousand diamonds, I suppose.

To stay on topic...if I ever come across a BRD/NIN while building a PT, I'll send a /tell asking them if they have a WHM or even RDM sub.

I find alot of whms on my server are big on manaburning for some weird reason, and more then once they will run out of mp(this is with both ballad I and II on them) and then the tank all of a sudden starts taking damage. Now, with the whm resting, and a brd/nin, the possabilities of at least the tank dying are much greater, which in turn makes the rest of the party all that much closer to death. So if the whm needs to rest its good to be able to get off those extra cures, even if it only gives your whm back 150 mp. Often that is just enough extra to keep the battle lasting just long enough to win if your having probs.
And on a side note, run if your pulling hate off your tank, cause that means your gonna die because someone else is a moron instead of a problem arising where exp loss happens because of a link or your tank dies. There is enough of that happening you shouldn't need unneccisary deaths like that. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
