How come brd doesnt get an instrument?

What i was wondering is why a bard doesnt get a instrument for AF1, i mean rangers get bow, brds get Paper Knife. Seems a little wierd to me. Could anybody explain how come brds get no instrument for AF1?

I don't really see how it's relevant. The entire theme is that AF1 is a weapon. A bow is the ranger's main (and highest ranked) weapon. A bard's highest ranked weapon is Dagger, at B. So even though it doesn't make sense because a bard doesn't melee often, neither does a whm, or blm, or smn, etc. The only time I've ever used the AF dagger is in BCNM40
