Wow! thanks for that Aniga!! I too made the mistake of thinking that Requiem was simply something other than an elemental magic. Good to know that I can burst with it. One other question. will a song like a minuet produce damage when you sing it following liquification of fusion or will it simply produce an increased effect of the song. I suppose this is more a question of how the MB's work. I know that you can burst with an enfeebling version of whatever element(s) are in the renki but I just haven't ever seen it done. People always seem to burst with the DD elemental spells. I will, of course try this myself tonight. Again many thanks for the info!

You cannot burst with Minuet or any other beneficial song, just as a WHM cannot burst with a Cure spell (OK, MAYBE you can burst when using Cure on a Skeleton, but not when used beneficially). Only offensive-minded songs/spells can be burst. You can burst with an enfeebling spell/song, because it is offensive minded, just like you can burst with a direct damage spell. You can see an increase when you burst with something like Blizzard II, but there is no apparent change when you burst with something like Fire Threnody, because that value is hidden. Someone would have to parse/research this a bit in order to find out if bursting enfeebles makes a difference. An easy test would be to hit something with an Elegy or Slow spell without a burst and record the amount of hits in 30 seconds, then burst and Elegy/Slow and see if there is any difference. Personally though, all I think bursting with enfeebles does is makes it more likely to land that specific enfeeble. I have no proof for this, unfortunately. | |

Bursting with a threnody does lower the resist alot. I was using BRD/BLM in cralwers nest and averaged 50dmg using fire after Fire Threnody. After MB Fire Threnody i did more dmg (about 65) which was a high for me.

Problem with magic bursting threnodies(despite it being entertaining sometimes) is that you normally want it to be on the creature before magic burst time comes  . Unless your PT is doing lv3 skillchains chances are your magic burst threnody won't have as much use as it would if you used it before hand. And as it was said, you can magic burst with any offensive magic(ninjutsu, blizzard, flare, requiem, threnodies, paralyze, slow, etc). |
