| Junior Member | BCNM 40 - Why is everyone whining about CHA?
Really now, it's not hard to build your charisma without a Monster Signa, yet everywhere I turn I hear people say that a Signa helps tremendously with BCNM 40. I fail to see the point. I have +17 from various Charisma items, and I get sleep resisted once a fight if that, which is easily put down with Foe Lullaby. Stop overrating Charisma! ![]() List: Two +2 Charisma Rings (+4) Paper Knife (+2) Bird Whistle (+3) Noble's Ribbon (+3) Corsette (+5) That costs... 20-25k, at most. All easily attainable, and if you're not a Galka or Mithra, it's all you need. Stop freaking over a Monster Signa, you won't need one until maybe your 60's. |

whats your bcnm40 experiences then? i've held off doing it because i didnt want to waste the stones until i have equipment i want (also i've seen ppl go in without a good idea or plan and continually get wiped^^) i'm not fussed about a signa, but i'm getting a mary's horn for sure for this fight ![]() anyways, sorry to hijack a little, but lets hear what bards various experiences of this fight are =) as a hume i'm not finding my sleep resisted that much with the +14CHR i have atm (btw you forgot the CHR song bonus (which will be on you when you do your first ae lullaby) AND if you wanted you could drink some tea^^) |

You can wear level 40+ equipment during the BCNM40? I've only fought it once and I wasn't above 40. I can't remember if the other people had to switch gear. Normally when you are deleveled to a certain spot, you must wear equipment for that level or below. I thought this was why the Signa was good for BCNM.. it's level 17. You listed an the AF weapon (41), and corsette.. these are both 40+ items. |

So far i've done BCNM40 once and one with ease. I borrowed my friends monster signa for the fight, and had 0 resists the whole fight. Keep in mind what this fight entails...1 boss with some nasty area effects and 7 mandragos(in our case). A couple resists in one fight and you're in alot of trouble and putting a big drain on mages mana. Can it be done without monster signa? Of course. Is it a huge help to have all the charisma you can? No doubt about it.

Both the corsette and the paper knife have a requirement of lv40. You can't wear any equipment over lv40 in a bc40 fight..

I tried camping Monster Signa for 5 hours today. The torrent spawned 3 times, and I was only able to kill him once. For those who don't know, this is how this utterly ridiculous mobs works: 1. I don't remember his cords. The trick to find him is to just run around Giddeus until you see about 10 level 30+ characters in a little stretch of land. ( It took me about 3 minutes to find the spot. ) 2. He will spawn as follows: His spawn time is a MINIMUM of one hour. When the time exceeds one hour, the pop becomes random (some believe the more birds in the area you kill, the faster he'll pop) within the time frame of two hours. 3. His location is as follows: He can spawn ANYWHERE in that nook. Towards the back near the wall, in the open, in the little ponds.. Anywhere a normal bird can spawn. 4. This game lacks the mature player base of other MMORPGS, and camped spawns are not respected. Expect to "share" the spawn with anywhere from 1 to 10 other people. 5. The chance of a staff dropping is appoximately 1/5, without treasure hunter. The fact our **best** weapon in the entire game is a RARE drop off a mob with a RANDOM timer that spawns at a RANDOM location off a level 15 monster goes to show you how poor Square is at creating logical gameplay. A peice of equipment that is used by level 75 characters should not drop off a level 17 monster. Such a good peice of gear should be awarded to players who can defeat challenging monsters -- NOT players who are lucky and can mash the provoke button the fastest. Our best weapon is a greed drop camped by people who won't even be using the staff most of the time. I would really love it if this item was either COMPLETELY removed from the game, or really nerfed hard ( +3-4 cha ).

You could just buy the signa if it means that much to you. It's hardly the "required piece of equipment" people make it out to be. Shellbuster does nicely with it's +4 cha, or paper knife in BC40. Have you even looked at the price of other +cha gear? +4 rings go up to around 500k per ring. That's less of a bonus than monster signa and more than twice the cost. Or maybe you'll take the other route and build up goldsmithing then cry when that takes too long. How about minuet 4? That goes for around 200k as well and it's a requirement for bard. Remove the staff from the game? Change it to +4? Just buy a shellbuster and don't obssess over something that's not a big deal. The camps for the more desired items can certainly be a pain but the campers are offering a supply for a demand. Theres more alternatives than just sitting at that camp all day..maybe you'll end up being the demand and buying the staff. |

The Signa is good for the BCNM, but that extra 4 Charisma isn't going to save you if you don't know what you're doing. A good +15-20 Charisma is all that you need to make sure you get very few to no resists.

This fight isn't hard, and super high charisma isn't necissary. If your charisma isn't high enough, though, and you get 1 resist per AE Lullaby, then you might be in a spot of trouble. You don't really need to worry about the first AE Lullaby. It's more about position than resists--Make sure you are targetting the right one in order to hit ALL of the monsters at once. If you can get all of them asleep on your first try, the BCNM is going to be easy as long as you can maintain control. Also, don't bother with your Charisma Etude. If you can ever put songs on, put them on in this order: Ballad for the casters, Minuet II and I for the melees, Hunter's Prelude if you have a ranger, Threnody (Fire is what we use), Elegy, Requiem. Start off the fight with Soul Voice, and you won't get a single resist for a while. It takes a little bit of practice, but it isn't hard at all.

Hey Aniga...which BCNM40 are you talking about? What did you sub when doing the BCNM. I normally sub RDM or BLM....but was considering BST for the BCNM for the CHR+.

well i presume we are talking about giddeus, don't know why but for some reason thats the bcnm40 most peole go for (on my server anyway) its a bunch of madragora (onion) type mobs, normal tactic is something like, pld run in and get all the mobs together so the bard+blm can ae lullaby/sleepga. Kill the black NM onion and then kill the rest.. hmm well i might give it another shot this weekend we always seem to lack monks whenever we decide to do this (that monk 2hr really speeds up the fight^^)

Tried the Pal Mines BCNM40.. that one is tough.. 15 worms. They seemed to cast mainly Stone II, stonega, Rasp, and Bind. There was a NM worm, but I couldn't single out of if he was using different spells. |

And we're talking about Giddeus BCNM40. I really don't see a reason to do any other. EDIT: Why did I say Raise instead of Blink? *bonk self*
