BRD/SMN comments

I was just thinking about this combo today (still waiting for NA release) and couldn't tell if it would be good or not. I understand that Summoners require a lot of MP, and that Summoner as a subjob isnt amazing, but I couldn't see any outstanding features of another mage subjob over this one. I would think with the ability to recover MP with songs, along with the passive on summoner later on, that MP would still be a problem, but not as much as it could be. I would plan on using the Summons for their support abilities rather than sheer power, and then releasing them. Please post any Pros/Cons, comments or tips! Thanks

I'd say it's not worth it for two reasons.

1. Weak summons.

2. Bards get no MP of their own so you'd be going of sub job MP alone which isn't enough for the huge MP costs of summons

You say you don't care about those things though so just give it a try and see how you like it
