Will we see Mythic Armor?

We have AF weapons and armor, we have relic weapons and armor, and we now have mythic weapons, but no armor. Will we see any hints of Mythic Armor coming our way?

My guess is no. With all of the Salvage, Nyzul, and ZNM gear out there now, I doubt SE is going to add even more. You never know though

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

Much like we don't have AF+1 Weapons, I can't see them adding full sets of JSE "Mythic" armor. Especially seeing as how Salvage gear is pretty much the same type of setup as Relic weapons, only a bit lighter on the wallet.

Mythic weapons were more of a way to give every single job a Relic because none of the new jobs can use the old ones. Sort of how Limbus gear is God gear for jobs who can't wear actual God gear.

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

No Aka, just . . .

Well, actually, if the gear is even a fraction as good-looking (functionally, not fashionably) as the weapons, I could see it as being justified, especially for the older jobs, who could stand to greatly benefit from S-E's recent aptitude for designing JSE (ToAU AF + Relic; WotG AF, especially Scholar). I mean, Red Mage Duelist's Armor, while awesome, is at least 99% magic-oriented, and all Warlock's Armor has to offer physically is relatively pitiful amounts of AGI and DEX as well as some lol(Parrying + Shield) skill boosts.

However, I have to ask is a whole new set of special "Mythic" JSE warranted or even applicable? The "Mythic" Weapons were only described to be as "Relic-level" weaponry so we could comprehend their power. (Although, really, Relic Weapons could be described as the ultimate weapons of their weapon types, whereas Mythic Weapons could be better described as the ultimate weapons for their jobs.) And how would this "Mythic Armor," if it even goes with these Mythic Weapons, fit in to the story? We know Balrahn managed to acquire his "Myriad Arms" through an equally myriad of epic feats and adventures, but what would he be doing with an even larger number of armors (and who would even bother going to steal all of that and hide it away in who knows where)? Even if you take this away from Aht Urghan, the central continents already have the Hydra Corps being dressed up in Relic (Weapons included). So, are we just adding a whole new set of armors just for the sake of this new tag that these awesome JSWeapons came with? And what of the WotG jobs, for which adding even Relic, even at this time only one year after their premiers, would seem premature? Many people would suggest focusing on that instead.

So, really, I dunno, but I'm really kind of leaning "no."

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

Better question would be now that ToA (and inevitably WotG) have relic armor from Dynamis, when will they get relic weapons? Cuz now every job has a mythic and only the original 15 have relic.

Plz fix SE, kthx.

/sits back and awaits amusing reasons why newer jobs shouldn't get relic weapons.

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

Or how about a 3rd set of AF (Aka's mythic armor?) that has good stats and a set bonus that makes wearing the full outfit worth it?

I love how stylish some of the AFs are, but some (DRK...) are just shit to wear in full. So let's have a real "final armor" set (I believe that's the original name of AF in Japan?)

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

YM: I do like your reasoning for this. But it gave me an idea on how it could be worked.
We know that our AF and Relic gets 'examined' when we upgrade them. We could go under the guise that Balrahn set up an agency to using what they know about the examined and restored armors apply them to create new armor using materials and properties of his arms. With the recent events of Nyzul Isle and the weapons being discovered, enabled the agency to release a set to those whom obtained the weapon skill unique to the arms, but requires the limbus and dreamland dynamis materials, and of course a fee of imperial gold pieces to make the sets.

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

Still too much of a stretch if you ask me. SE can conveniently make a story that won't completely contradict what we already know for just about any item, event, NPC, game mechanic, or whatever, that they want to add. E.g. Diorama. Being able to come up with a story for mythic armor doesn't really say much.

There isn't any real symmetry between old world relic gear and ToAU mythic weapons. Besides, if they add "mythic armor" then what the heck's the point to Salvage/Einherjar/Nyzul armors?

Equivalent to Sea and Sky armors

Edit: Let's not forget the Empire has its share of secrets, to say another uncover due to the exploration of Nyzul and obtaining the weapons isn't all that far fetched.

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

Honestly though why not have another set of AF that's created similar to salvage?

Example; you trade your gallant and valor surcoats and either some items and/or a 3rd piece of armor as well to forge your true "Final" armor. These should be akin to the relic/mythic weapons in terms of having to invest a significant amount of time, but only about 1/5th of the effort (since there are 5 pieces)

This would give players who truly enjoy their jobs a shot at obtaining a real full-time set of armor that rocks. And really, why not? Why should we only be able to obtain a final, all-purpose weapon and not armor as well for a similar effort?

Well, in the case of BLU, a straight sword would be a lore trainwreck, and any weapon other than a sword would be silly, so it would require making an entirely new relic weapon... BLU seem to get screwed out of a lot of endgame swords they "should" have because of overpoweredness concerns (even Seiryu's Sword, and if you can figure out how to make *that* overpowered, I'll be impressed).

Maybe they should get a relic Blue Magic instead... if SCH can get a spell as their AF, why can't BLU get one as their relic? Meteor would be the obvious candidate.

I don't see any particular reason COR, PUP, SCH, or DNC couldn't use existing relic weapons. They'd clearly be *less* unbalancing in the hands of those jobs than the jobs that already have them. SCH probably wouldn't bother, but then, neither do BLM or SMN, generally.

I think the idea of having a set of gear that's the best all-around, definitely is lame.

Even for relics, pre-Mythic, most jobs had a choice between two Relic weapons. Now that there's Mythic weapons too, then relics and mythics taken together are definitely still better than everything else, but can you say one is better than the other? Is Excalibur all-around better than Burtgang or vice-versa?

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

Full-time armor kinda goes against the whole scheme of macro swaps and balancing one set of gear against the other. In many cases, you're still going to mix and match a lot of endgame gear.

An end-all/be-all set would make endgame a quick affair initially and eventually it would be one giant bottle neck players try to force themselves through.

Nyzul gives my COR its best QD accuracy build.
Salvage gives me the best melee TP build
Relic and AF/AF+1 enhance my JAs

And all of them give various stats.

I could go on and on with any job.

Also, Karinya, you seemed to have no problem with the lore break for ToA relic dropping in Dynamis in the first place, so I don't see why BLU getting Excalibur would be so earth-shattering from a story standpoint. Say what you want about us entering the past, that makes no account for which jobs got in the Hydra Corp. Its just a retcon punch because SE saw the crybitch-fest on forums if other jobs got different means of getting relic different from Dynamis. Other players want us to endure the agony of Dynamis because they had to and wouldn't help these jobs if there wasn't something in it for them as well.

Re: Will we see Mythic Armor?

>_> I still think it would be cool.

Maybe not absolutely best-for-all-situations good, but good enough to warrant wearing the entire set so you can be powerful and fashionable.

It pisses me off to no end how cool looking DRK AF and Relic is while being so terrible stat-wise (just to name one example). Gear swapping be damned, I want my Relic/Mythic-level AF, even if it takes the same monumental effort it does to obtain a weapon.
