This one has been bugging me since I started COR. Granted it's a moot point for me now since I just hit 50, and within a week or two will be done getting dice, but still it would be very nice if future CORs had some options on how to obtain new rolls.

My two issues: 1) Chayaya(at least on Ramuh server) gets kidnapped during Besieged frequently. I had to wait over a week in order to get Hunter's Roll because there was no NPC to buy it from. And 2) The freakin' things are expensive; i.e. 80k for Drachen Roll? Something that I don't see getting a use outside of Astral Flow(assuming the effect works for AF, I'm just guessing it does from the description)? Considering that I use only 4 rolls on a regular basis, and others ocassionally if I have alternative party setups(like pet burn), it'd be really nice if these were added as drops from some sort of ISNM or something, so people aren't shelling out loads of gil for abilities they only use once in a blue moon. Has anyone else had an issue with this?

On the other hand, the gameplay of COR is great, I commend SE on making such a fun job(I was very skeptical about a pirate job at first). I don't like it quite as much as a my RDM, but I definitely have much more fun as COR than I did as BRD.

yes they should. i have to wait forever to get my dice and i cant stock up on it cause its too much for me to get all at once

Well, I suppose that's the luck of the draw.

A lot of COR's abilities seem to usually be alright, sometimes fantastic, others kinda bad (a bust). I don't see why other aspects of the job would be much different.

I would say this would be another reason that people do besieged and raid the beastmen strongholds around Al Zahbi, but I already know that you can't really trust your fellow players to do things that doesn't directly benifit them.

I do not have much experience with COR as I have not played since the expansion was a few days old so this might not make sense. Maybe Corsair Dice could become high level Bonecraft recipes?

it'd sure be nice if all *my* spells were for sale from a single conveniently located npc. even if said npc had less than stellar attendance records. (thereby giving me a justifiable reason for leveling without the spell, in the event that said npc was not in fact there, without having my party hate me for it) so, yeah. count your blessings.

This doesn't affect the pricing issue, but if Chayaya is captured, you could always get a friend and rescue her. The mobs that drop the keys that release prisoners are DC-EM to 75 so they're pretty easy to duo, and sneaking through the stronghold is a pretty fun MGSish experience. It's not instant gratification, but it gets you what you need and it's not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

The pet rolls COR has are still likely one of the most underexplored parts of COR because its hard to measure the statistical results of the roll and its not terribly common for CORs to party with more than one pet job at a time. Magus' Roll is also shares this problem as Magic Defense Bonus can't be measured as easily as other stats Phantom Rolls give.

I have found Magus Roll useful for the Mire PTs where I get a noob RDM/BLM that doesn't level WHM sub because he "hates /WHM." Grab a BLU for the bonus and you've got a nice some more magical protection at the very least. Its also nice when used with Barspells and Carols.

In contrast to BRD, though, the majority of our Rolls see more action than the majority of thier songs. BRD's spell list is 70% junk. That's one of the key reasons I like COR over BRD, we can use different buffs based on PT setup and not just whore out the same to buffs on mages and melee all the time.

As frustrating as Chayaya kidnappings can be, I think COR got it pretty easy on learning thier buffs. You can probably afford to go without Drachen Roll for a while, but most others I wouldn't try to avoid.

I suppose SE could make some Lamia mobs drop the dice, maybe some goblin mobs as well. But overall, I don't see how this changes much of anything for COR. The Nashmau NPC is never kidnapped and he has the dice for all the RoZ/ToA jobs.

Seems obvious that S-E wants players to have real incentives to go rescue NPC's. If the dices were to be had elsewhere, why would anyone bother to rescue her?

a ghetto substitute for Shellra II.

(MDB is nice, but not for exp.) it does however, do an ok job of substituting for weaker shell effects in merit. (shell for the record is straight -%magic damage, not mdb)

Magic defense bonus from Magus Roll helps mitigate the AoE damage that the rdm is poorly equipped to deal with without Curaga and Bar-ra spells, probably.

Now I must be really stupid, Silence would be the solution to that, not Shellra and wouldn't need /whm. Unless people are EXP/Meriting on things I've never killed (which is very possible).

Shellra and Barwatera are very effective on Spongilla Fly's AoEs as well.

Barwatera I knew, but I didn't know that Shellra did anything for things like that.
