Will we be able to recieve gamer points playing the PC version?
Now that games are emerging on windows that give gamer points, will the achievements obtainable on the 360 version ever be obtainable on the PC version?

Achevments were kinda an afterthought in the 360 version. In fact SE probabaly didn't even wana add any but did it under pressure from microsoft....since MS thinks all games should have them.

To me things like achevments detract from the fun of the actual games....I really don't need someone giving me store points for getting 100% or something like that...I just need to have fun ^^

Re: Will we be able to recieve gamer points playing the PC version?
An thats the way all games should be, but if im playin the game on a 360 when i reach 75, i get an achievement, if im playin on a pc when i do, i wont an have to start another character takin that job to 75 in order to get that achievement.

If the pc version gave achievements(cos it wouldnt be hard now) that wouldnt be a problem.

Re: Will we be able to recieve gamer points playing the PC version?
The only way to solve that problem for yourself is to exclusively play that character on the 360 version then. As already mentioned, SE didn't even really want to put the Achievements in. So don't expect much sympathy from them on the PC front.

edit: Looks like I didn't understand how Achievements work. If your 360 account is occasionally played on a PC, you should still receive the achievements on the 360 version. Or something. So you really have nothing to worry about.

I could still be way off base. I don't' really understand the 360 system. Still, the point stands about PC gamers not worrying about it.

Er, huh?

Not sure what you are asking here... but you should have one account shared on both Xbox360 and the PC(and PS2 for that matter). Meaning you already get achievements for your progress on the PC.

Re: Will we be able to recieve gamer points playing the PC version?
If i log in to my character on the 360 after already achieving 75 the 360 will notice and give me the achievement? Sweet! That makes it much easier.

I made the mistake of introducing my GF to the game :p Now i dont get to use the 360 an had to buy the game again on the PC, lol

Makes the game so much better when you play along side RL friends, ive introduced loads now :)

How about just deleveling your char to 74, and making sure you're on the 360 when you get 75 back?

I think you just talk to the Bard that hands out acheviments and he'll give you whatever....as long as you're on the 360 version when you talk to the bard ^^

Re: Will we be able to recieve gamer points playing the PC version?
Just out of curiosity what the F are achievement points? to me it seems its a goal that microsoft are putting on that creates competition. Competition means people want to better each other (as is humanity) which means they are encouraging people to spend longer playing games just to get a stupid acheivement point. surely thats encouraging people to become more unsocial and spend more time sat on their ass playing a game just to get a higher score than some person elsewhere on this planet?

Re: Will we be able to recieve gamer points playing the PC version?
To receive your Xbox 360 achievement unlocked, and therefor the points, you must meet the requirement for the achievement, e.g. Level 75 Job, and speak to the NPC Title Changer (Bard) and select to unlock the achievement while playing the on the Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 achievements are nothing of any real value. They are not "store point" as mentioned earlier. They are simply a list of accomplishments one has obtained while playing any xbox 360 game. Each achievement is worth Gamer Score Points. They do absolutely nothing, and as Microsoft eludes to, just there for bragging rights to your buddies. So in short... E-peen fodder for most. A list of Goals for the serious gamer.

And in the case of this game. The achievements are not altogether stupid.
Some of FFXI achievements on the Xbox 360.

1: Level 75 Paladin
2: Level 75 Thief
3: Level 75 Ranger
4: etc etc one achievement for each level 75 Job
5: Level 100 in a Craft
6: Completed all RoZ missions
7: Completed all of CoP Missions

For this game, the achievements have meaning.
