Tad off topic, but I wish they'd release a version of FFXI for the PS3. Something with greater resolution, something that would run faster, and wouldn't #@$! bricks during Besieged. From what I've heard, FFXI installed on the PS3 is basically identical to the PS2 version. No noticable difference during Besieged, yet I've heard that X360 during Besieged is much more managable. I've the lag in heavily populated zoned is less noticable in the X360. This could also just be that users perception, or "Xbox >>> everything" perceptions. But I have heard that from a handful of users, and only 2 users who have said they're on crack, they have the same lag as they did on PS2.

Yes, the PS2 works fairly consistantly, although that's not to say it doesn't have bugs (just a week or so ago, choosing the most common Mithra face in character creation caused FFXI to crash on PS2)- my point was though, practically any computer yyou've bought in the past 3-4 years should play FFXI just as well, if not better, than a PS2.

And heck, I bet if you went for budget parts and built a PC to play FFXI, it wouldn' cost more than a few hundred dollars- and that's more useful than a PS2, too.

I don't know if what you said is true tdh but a good percentage of the Xbox users I've met on message boards(not here) are stupid fanboys who usually can't see past the end of thier own nose. I'm not doubting there are some good ones in the crowd, but I've yet to meet one that's not yelling something like "Xboxownz!" with the additon that all other systems stink....

I don't mind the 360, I totally hate the PS3, and I wub the wii, but I have none of the above.

It might be one of those things that you don't realise how awesome it is until you have it. That or you don't even realise other people are on xbox because they don't act like morons.

Sadly, this is the same experience I've been having. I truly dislike Microsoft, but I did well before Xbox was conceived. After all the hype of "OMG BETTER THAN TEH WORLDZ", and wind up to Xbox release I started to think how this may actually be good for the gaming industry. More people, more publishers, more games. That's gotta be good right? Turned out it kinda split the gaming community more than I expected it to, and the X fanboy was born. Believe it or not, they were worse than the Mario and Sony fanboys combined.

I wanna PS3, hoping to get mine next month, then a Wii to follow shortly after that. I have no interest in an X360. The only game on the system that I think would hold any interest for me would be Gears of War. Not about to drop that kinda money just for a single game. Would take a X360 ONRY Final Fantasy for me to buy an X360. Even then, I'd probably dress it up to look like an ottoman or coffee table or something. lol

I have a Wii and it's a really fun toy. I'm no one's fanboy myself...I've even gotten over being an SE fanboy and started playing other RPGs.

I have one problem with the PS3: I can't think of a darn thing to do with one besides using it for a $600 PS2 right now. I still think I want one but unless Sony gets a killer app or two I may not buy one.

The only Xbox360 that intrests me is Blue Dragon(out in Japan and comming soon here)...and I don't think it's worth $400-$500 just to play that one game. I haven't liked MS for awhile now and this was...like you...before the Xbox1....

Sorry, only ever played FFXI on PC here so excuse my slightly OT and nwebish Q:

Does FFXI look the same on PC, PS2 and 360 right now? Or is the resolution better on 360?

I ask, mainly becuase I have this kiiler Graphics card I want to utilise but unfortunetly I know SE will never re-vamp FFXI''s grpahics...just wondered of 360 users had it any better.

my ps2 and hdd got fried i picked up one on ebay 5 hrs later orignal package a fat ps2 at ebay. ToAU and COp can still be ordered thru POL i believe i got my cop at best buy in store well after it came out.
