What will be done about RMT expoliting AF coffers for gil?
I recently started hunting my treasure coffers for BST AFs in zones such as Crawlers Nest and Castle Zvhal Baileys. Hunting for these chest is very difficult as it is, but now teams of RMT swarm these areas as a means of generating gil. Will anything be done to address this?

They're always in groups auto-following each other, usually consist of a mithra THF and tarutaru BLM and some miscellaneous third member playing a DD class. They only break from auto-follow to fight monsters that drop chest/coffer keys.

It has become very difficult to pursue these coffers in certain areas, and even complete the Borghetz AF "hands" quests as a result. I had never had problems obtaining key items and AF from coffers in the past, but the instances where RMT have been farming Treasure Coffers seems to have risen in lieu of other RMT countermeasures.

I would like to make three suggestions (1) Change the gil reward from these particular coffers to a rare/ex item, (2) diminish the gil reward as you spend more time farming coffers or (3) fashion a pair of new AF quests for each job - aside from the Borghetz quest - to replace these coffer hunts. Perhaps some side-stories to the main AF story where you can complete a quest objective instead of having to chase down Treasure coffers. Maybe an NM fight or the search for a particular item, or even possibly what was done with the ToA AFs - make these particular AFs an item crafted by a NPC.

I realize this would be a rather cumbersome change, but I think it would reduce the problem of having to compete with RMT for coffers containing AF for our jobs, in addition to making the AF quests feel more meaningful.

Re: What will be done about RMT expoliting AF coffers for gil?
Or why not option D?

Most of these zones already have a Treasure Chest in them AND a Coffer Chest, why not create some special chest that ONLY gives out items needed for AF? I say items only needed for AF because I think there are some jobs that get items from Coffers and then trade it in for the AF and others who get the actual AF from the Coffer.

Call it a Dusty Olde Coffer or something like that, appears randomly as a Coffer/Treasure chest spawn, and only one can appear at any time in the zone.

So if the AF coffer spawns instead of a Treasure Chest, then you will have a Coffer and an AF chest.

If the AF chest spawns instead of the Coffer then you have a Treasure chest and the AF chest.

Making a third chest just for the AF that appears randomly in the zone like the other chests do seems best to me.

That's what we've suggested a long time ago. Seperate chest only for AF.

Re: What will be done about RMT expoliting AF coffers for gil?
That wouldn't be a bad idea, either. I guess I'd just like a good story instead, some of the AF quests like BRD, BST and RDM are far too... quaint. I got a little weepy on BRD and BST, I'll admit, but they could have used a little more definition to make them feel more special.

I love how the ToA AFs are story lines from start to finish, even with the genkai 5 quests. I think they're the best AF stories outside of the ones for DRG and RNG, COR especially. I just want more of that to look forward to when I level other jobs.

I've never had any problems with Crawler's Nest coffers. Weird. I guess the RMT really do get desperate sometimes.

The older stories could probably all use a revamp. Maybe I'm dead inside (not true) but I haven't found any of the ones I do to be all that thrilling (RDM, BRD, PLD, WHM - maybe I should do more). Well, PLD was kind of nice, actually. And I liked the final scene for RDM. But that's about it.

Blue Mage storyline was a beast! I loved every minute of it. I never had much problems getting coffers though so this is all new to me.

The RDM Artifact story has me 'effin' HEATED. At the end, it's a murder mystery you don't get to see solved. There's Curilla's father's ghost, hinting to his murderer, a brief and tense scene with the Papsque, and then... what? Nothing, that's what.

I am interested in more exploration of RDM's role in dealing with ghosts. The Elvaan handing you the AF quest was a RDM inquiring about a spirit, Curilla's father was a RDM and a ghost, and the young lady charged with investigating "The Dark Lilies"(during the previous Halloween event), was all decked out in Wise gear, and ended up doing some ghost hunting herself. Red Mage = Sprirt Detective? o.O

But back on topic, I haven't had any experience with RMT hogging coffers(though it seemed like ages since I did my Artifact hunts), but it's high time we see special coffers designed specifically for Artifact armor.

Ok, I was being nice about the RDM AF quest for the sake of the thread.

It sucked hard.

Just realized my BST coffer was actually in Beadeux, so I'm glad I hadn't dragged my pals out the CZB just yet. NIN will - thank god - be the last of the original AFs I do. Only ToA AFs after that.

No, the whm storyline sucked hard. Rdm wasn't bad compared to it. Trust me. I fell asleep part way through the whm storyline.

Totally. WHM storyline was a snoozer.

Re: What will be done about RMT expoliting AF coffers for gil?
1 of 4 reasons

1. RMT could be doing their own AF quests (not very likely but some do quest the AF)
2. Sell the scroll/armor/weapon drop (but this happens very seldom)
3. fast 8k to 10k gil
4. map of the zone (in certain areas)

don't expect the RMT to make a killing like they can on other things. chests/coffers can take as low as 5 minutes and as long as 3 hours to spawn, and some of the items don't go for a lot of gil to start.

Really? I thought it was a defined 30 minutes b/w each pop.
Haven't noticed RMT at the coffers yet, but I haven't been to CN lately, except for the escort quest, and haven't been to CZB since Dark Spark. Seems like they could find better things to do with their time, though. If you get the key, great, but still can take quite a while to find the coffer. Perhaps a sign that RMT are really starting to struggle?

Let them. Once or twice may be easy to get away with, but doing that constantly will result in massive and easy bans. Coffer's aren't like the quests that got changed as you need to get a key first to open one. So they can't just constantly remake mules and such to spam these things. And since many times coffers give crap items it just means they'll have to do it more frequently making it easier to catch.

If they're dumb enough to pos hack coffer spam then that's certainly a good sign they're struggling.
