What will be done about RMT expoliting AF coffers for gil?

did this just start happening over night or something? or is bbq just full of angst again?

i havent encountered this myself but i dont see how farming coffers can make you money. you spend anywhere from 10-60min farming for a key, to make 15k from a chest? all the big money drops have been taken out of coffers now. all you stand to get other than ~15k gil is probably some sort of gem, which arent quite the money makers.

It's been a while since I've done coffers (at least a few months) but I haven't heard anything about RMT dominating coffers anywhere.

You still get other drops while farming the key, but still, it does seem like a questionable moneymaker for anything other than maybe Ballad 2, Burst and Life Belt (and even then, probably only if you were farming something else in that area with decent drops anyway). Otherwise unless you just happen to stumble across a chest/coffer while holding a key, it's not really worth it to go looking for them for anything besides AF, maps and quests.

Unfortunately for BBQ, Burst is in Beadeaux... good thing it's dropped to 30k*, so it might not be worth bothering with either unless you were already in the area trying to farm something else (like flood, which is still over 100k and drops from the same Sapphire Quadavs that can also drop keys).

just to put in my two cents: I enjoyed the THF story with all the gambling, tricking and even a mysterous band of thieves that even have something to do with CoP!(*cough*country the safehold came from*cough*)

This used to be a problem with the Kuftal Coffer. The RMTs who were camping Amemet also killed the other mobs nearby between pops, which would yield enough coffer keys for them to very regularly loot the coffer. I remember having a very hard time helping my DRG friend get his AF there as a result.

I'm guessing the RMTs are doing something similar in other zones. They could always farm the demons for horns and skulls, and loot coffers with whatever keys happen to drop.

There was a set of RMT roaming Beadeaux, but they didn't seem to be much of a problem as far as keys are concerned. Key droprate sucks there no matter what.

Coffer was sitting in front of me and a friend for 30 mins, but we didn't have the key yet and some THF tried to pick it and popped a mimic. We could have fought the mimic after he warped, but we were a duo and decided it wasn't worth the risk, I've had my fill of mimics... hate 'em.

I think RMT are scrambling to look for their next new score. I have been EXPing BST in GC as of late and there were quite a few more RMT on hand for Serket last night than there had been before.

It wasn't exactly subtle that the level 45-48 "party" in my tunnel (near the hellmines) went AFK for the whole three hour window. Then jumped back to life when Serket was dead. Nah, couldn't be RMT, why not even their simultaneous red-balling would raise an eyebrow.

It isn't a new thing, there has always been a problem with coffers in certain zones. Ask any rdm how they liked getting their Castle Oztroja coffer while Astral Rings were still in there.

IMO, the most notably hardest places due to RMT will be anywhere that they farm, such as Kuftal Tunnel, or hard to reach places such as Garliage Citadel. I was helping a few friends with their AF in there, and the RMT was using warp hacks to get to the chests before us.

I exp'd in Garlaige behind gate two back in the 50s, and we stood on a coffer for like, two days. No one POS hacked to it while I was there.
