I like Robotics;Notes ... it's like a bit of Tari Tari with memorable characters (so far). I have faith in Production I.G.

Oh ... Magi ... so far, I like the anime, and I think it's likely to end up as intriguing as Dantalian no Shoka.
yea, i just saw it. im surprised for this season. there is actually quite a few series i plan to keep up with (all of which you mentioned lol)

I am equally pleased as well (aside from the retarded ecchi series ...) although I also noticed an uptick of Sho-Ai anime (Boys Love) this season. Not that isn't a bad thing, considering that they have to also appeal to female manga readers who are steadily growing in numbers (hold on, I'm gonna redo that statement ... "the segment of population interested in that category of manga")

I have to say, it's refreshing, primarily because I'm sick and tired of these harem anime with gratuitous amounts of violence, brain dead women and coded misogyny.

      Re: Fall 2012/Winter 2012-2013

I am also tired of the generic ecchi harems, but I don't mind of dash of ecchi now and then. As far as boys love, I remember watching some anime called No. 6 and it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think last season I gave the romance genre a go with that Natsuki Rendevous but it was a bit too slow paced for me.

I was kinda hoping for something amazing from Robotic's Notes since it's by the same people who did Stein's Gate (I loved this one), but i guess its still too early to decide. I just remember being really drawn into how eccentric the main character of Stein's Gate was and that kept me interested till they took a few episodes to develop the story.

Do you know anything about season 2 of Kokoro Connect? I think that was my favorite show last season, but it seemed to take a break. I remember hearing about something about a prank that went overboard with one of the VAs and that might end the show =/ I hope its not true.

Hah ... I felt the same way with Natsuyuki Rendevous. I'll watch the rest of it when I have a bit of "rainy weather" time on my hands. I can stomach K and it's (slightly) overt sho-ai-ness, mostly because the pacing is a fair clip with a lot of action and still some "fan service" for those that prefer that kind of thing.

It's based on a PC game, actually, which is something sim-mish like Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate. However, Robotics;Notes has just enough elements in place to tell a compelling story that everyone can get into. So I'm not passing judgment until well over half a season in.

The controversy was over a practical joke centered around one of the male VAs being the victim. But he said he thoroughly enjoyed it and everyone didn't think it was a big deal. However, the "fans" were not so kind, and eventually apologies flowed with great regret. I think the rabid-ness of otakus are stupid. Damned NEETs, they should go get a job >.>

Kokoro Connect will continue sometime in 2013, as originally planned, probably for the Spring 2013 anime season. So rest assured, unless they officially come out and say they are closing shop, you just have to look forward to previews and trailers

      Re: Fall 2012/Winter 2012-2013

So weird to hear Guilty Crown music in another anime. Production I.G.'s Psycho Pass features music from Egoist, the group responsible for many memorable tracks in Guilty Crown.

So far, I'm enjoying Pyscho Pass. Elements (or shades) of Ghost in the Shell combined with elements of cyberpunk classics such as Blade Runner and Bubblegum Crisis. A bit violent for the average viewer, so I'd caution against having children watching it (first episode features a violent sex assault)

Now that I've thought about BGC ... oh the memories.

This last weeks episode of Shin Sekai Yori has gotten me really excited for the next episode. I heard there are elements of The Giver in it, but I never read that book . . .although i think i should after this anime is over. SAO seems to be picking up as well. So I'm going to keep it on my to-watch list. I'm really liking this season

      Re: Fall 2012/Winter 2012-2013

I haven't read beyond Alfheim Online arc in the light novels by Reki Kawahara (maybe just a couple of chapters into the 3rd volume) but the pacing in Alfheim Online is very fast as the events of the whole volume takes place in a very short span of time. Somewhere down the road, the exact opposite will happen, but I'm not sure what game or circumstance Kirito finds himself in. The series is basically about Kirito, the protaganist, and his adventures (or misadventures) with Virtual MMORPGs. A lot deeper than Accel World, which I found to be quite disappointing and too childish for my tastes. The SAO anime is cutting out a good chunk of the more cerebral aspects of the story so I wouldn't get my hopes up too much for this particular arc considering the number of episodes left to be released (Slated to only run 26 episodes which I assumed was the contract given to A-1 Pictures)

Shin Sekai Yori has such dark undertones about humanity that it reminds me a lot of Akira more than any other anime. Maybe some of Miyazaki's darker works like Mononoke Hime (which still isn't as dark or grim by modern standards)

Right now I'm enjoying Pyscho Pass as that's filling a little bit of the hunger pangs left behind by Ghost in the Shell (I seriously wish I.G. Productions will continue the series at some point) I just hope it doesn't turn into another "love is killing this story" mess fest like Guilty Crown.

K has lost some of its edge from the first episode and I hope it recaptures that exhiliration. Otherwise it'll just fizzle out into yet another mediocre anime.

Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! is the real sleeper this season. Not very many people are talking about it but the series is a rollicking good time and reminds me a whole lot of K-ON! (with cross-overs from "Another") Magi is also another pleasant surprise and I'm totally waiting on [Commie] release sometime today.

i agree with alot of what you've said. I'm also watching Jormungand: Perfect Order which the last episode has really gotten me hooked. Season 1 just felt like a huge build up to Season 2. lol I LOVE Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!. It's freaking hilarious. I feel so stupid as a kid too when i look back lol.

Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! episode 4 had me laughing hard till my sides split. I especially liked how it almost started off cliched and then they threw a curveball down the gullet. I feel sorry for the protaganist.

Light novel, not manga, which is what I was expressing concern over (SAO was never a manga to begin with). Even if someone was skilled, like Peter Jackson, there's only so much content you could lift from a published work and turn it into a media production (e.g., LOTR) This is A-1 Pictures, so I'm confident they will be able to do as much as possible, but there were parts in there that already deviated from canon. The sole emphasis has been on the entertainment portion of the series but they certainly left out too much of the cerebral part of what the writer was trying to convey.

      Re: Fall 2012/Winter 2012-2013

From what I've seen that happens in most light novel to Anime transitions, since they can't go Captain Tsubasa on all the stuff going through everyone's minds or the super long scene establishing narrative. Either way I'm pretty happy about the series so far.

I may pick up the novel(s) eventually, but for now I'll just complain about the wait. orz

His light novels weren't deep or heavy ... just that it made you think. Stuff that I don't usually think about on a day-to-day basis, but does give me pause if someone else brings it up.

Not like other light novels, like Infinite Stratos, which was all about titilating innuendos and cliched harem-esque packaged for prebuscent boys.
