| Emma, A Victorian Romance
I am surprised that I haven't seen anyone mention this anime here, but don't come into this section of the forums that often so may have missed it. IMO it's a really cute and well done anime that gets my recommendation. It's about a maid, Emma, and a member of the lower aristocracy, William, falling in love and what they go through. Set in, you guessed it, the Victorian times. I find this anime especially interesting because I find the whole english cast thing to be such an alien concept, and I think they pull it off well for the most part. The amount of detail for the period is also quite nice, IMO the creator really did his homework on this. Anywho, well worth watching!

Probably hasn't been mentioned recently because it's like 5 years old and most likely licenced. ![]() I think I saw the manga some time ago but can't say I actually read it. So I'll try to find the episodes out there and check it out.

The art looks quite nice, and it could be a nice change of pace. I'll give it a chance.

Also the wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma:_A_Victorian_Romance The little clip of the manga art they show looks interesting, I may have to look for this in the manga form since it looks so intriguing. Almost forgot. I don't know if it's standard with all of the anime box sets, and I should say that I got the season 1 box set, but it also came with this little booklet entitled, Emma Victorian Gazette. This gives an interesting little synopsis of season 1, talks about the style of the period, and a number of the landmarks. It's written in a gazette/newspaper style that I think is kinda neat, and I like the little adds in it. It's a nice addition to the box set. Like I said though, I don't know if you can get this little gazette thing outside of the box set. IMO it's a really nice little addition to the box set, and if you're going to get all of season 1 then it makes the box set that much better, but I don't know if people would want to get the entire box set just on my review/recommendation I think it would be idea if like me, you hit up a local anime convention, see the first few episodes and decide if you want season 1 or not based on that. Or if you have some rental store you can rent it at or see it through some other means and then decide if you want the first season. Also, another thing. I think the vendor that I got this from is called King Roach. Excuse me, it seems that officially, where I got this from is called Animedepot.com (haven't visited the site) and they are trade marks of King Roach Enterprises, Inc according to this ad I have. Hmm, also has an info@animedepot.com website listed. Anyway, I bring it up because the people at the booth were incredibly knowledgeable about their anime, and had an exceptionally good selection. I've been to Sakura con two or three times now and it's been the same people in the booth, and they have consistently just been really great to do business with. I don't know where they are located, but I think it's worth checking them out and I plan on doing so both once I'm over this stupid cold and have some free time on the school computers. I bring it up because they may be a good anime resource, and I don't know of many places that are, especially local, which I suspect they must either be based locally or have a branch somewhere in Seattle, or something like that. I can't put my finger on it, but there is just something about this anime that I love, and while I don't know if I'd rank it with my favorite romance movie of all time, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, it's definitely up there on my list of favorite anime/movies and a pleasure to watch. And man, the manga has been out since 2002? Well, 2006 for the U.S, still though, I normally browse the manga isle in Barnes and Nobles and Borders just to see if anything catches my eye, and I never noticed this. Not that I really buy manga mind you, but I need to find a better source around here.

I watched about half of the first season of this back when it first aired in Japan. It's very well done for the most part, though the pace is quite slow and if you don't like a Victorian setting, you probably won't find it very special.
