Hey Guys
Well I recently saw this on baka-updates.com and I decided to download it and give it a shot. To my surprise, it's actually a really neat storyline and I just thought that I might point out to everyone out there who is looking for something new to watch.

Anyways, hope you enjoy it as much as I have so far, it seems each episode gets better then the next and I'm actually excited about the next episodes.

Since it's been out for like a good 2 or 3 weeks, you can kind of get the boring intro part out of the way, however to be honest there isn't much boring stuff, at least from my point of view and it's picking up fast ^ ^

I am VERY happy with how the anime came out. Very dark, awesome animation and voices. I have to wonder how the live action movie compared, especially with time constraint..

Jei, you didn't like the ending of the whole thing? I thought it was very fitting. Had some loooong conversations about it when it ended, lots of people were disappointed.

I agree.. after L was defeaded, it is like the story needs to be extended, since it is so hot the fans don't allow it ends there. The ending isn't too bad, compare to a lot of other manga that has trash endings

I just finish the manga couple days ago, I am not sure if I would watch the anime soon.

To me, these type of story better wait for the whole series finish, and watch it all at once. It sux to wait for one ep. per week

Yeah, I think everyone pretty much agrees the series lost steam during its second half. I think its a testament to Ohba's greatness that he had trouble getting it together. Although I thought the very last mini-arc was great.

I dunno if I could go watch the anime right after reading the whole series, it was a while ago for me so I can bear it XD

I think the story got kinda silly after L died... I wasn't fond of the whole second generation kids. Between Light and L and the coorperation, there were a lot of battle of wits. But Light VS those kids, it's almost like forcing Light to lose no matter what Light does.
Light says he'll have a trusted person hold the note, the kid just stole it.
Light says he'll keep the book safe and locked in a security tight safe, the kid just broke into it and snatch it....
really, not much IQ going on there >.>

And if you haven't seen the movie (the real actors one), Yagami Light doesn't look super smart like in the comic but he is *super evil* >.> You're gonna hate him, not adore him like you used to

I used to love Death Note soooooo much until I read the manga all the way through...I just finished it about 2 weeks ago. Pretty much, I read like...the 3rd or 4th to last chapter, whichever it was and I was just totally disgusted. >_> It made me really sad ; ; I really liked Raito up until that point, he was like a role model. :x

See, I think the entire point of the manga is Light's actions at the end.

HUGE spoilers :P

Even ignoring the fact that this was in Shonen Jump and chances are Shuiesha wouldn't have allowed Light to come out on top, I think the point Ohba was trying to make was that a human can't be a god, and that no matter how much we think we control the world there is always another force above us. Light was vaguely delusional throughout the entire manga. The seeds of his eventual fall are laid right in the first couple of chapters.

Ryuk tells Light early on that if he kills everyone that's bad, in the end he'll be the only bad one left. Later, when L calls him evil on TV he gets enraged, saying he's liberating people from fear and passing judgement on the wicked. But then he also says that people wont do crime because they'll be afraid of getting killed, and in the second half this has already cut the crime rate down. But the thing is, everyone is afraid, and Light isn't ruling as a benevolent god but as one whom the people can't trust.

Not to mention, Light killed his fair share of innocent people and was willing to kill more in order to protect himself. That's not righteous, and if he was really that good a person he wouldn't have been able to. In the end, no matter what he thought he was he was a regular human that broke down because he was as afraid of death as anyone. I thought it was very fitting to the end of a manga about the nature of humans and of death, and made up for the lackluster story in the middle of season 2.

The ending is okay. However, I think N wins only because of luck.

I wouldn't say luck, so much as he and Light planned out every single thing that would happen, and they said from the moment they decided on the final battle that one of them would go one tiny step further and that would be the winner. It was basically the same with L, except this time N got the one step (and L was at more of a disadvantage, which is a testament to how hard he rocked it).
