99% of Anime with english dub is in my bad book also

DBZ (if they cut out like 50% of the staring and powering up, it would be decent for a young boy)

I also found Pita Ten to be extremely annoying (over cute to the point where you want to barf)

heh, i find any Broccoli anime to be extremely adorable and enjoyable.

I didn't like Tenchi The Movie 2: The Daughter of Darkness.

I just thought it was plain stupid.

Star Ocean EX wasnt bad..i think the Star Ocean and Lunar series would be the only two game series that would make a decent anime..

Hate is such a strong word.. i dont really hate any anime.. well there's an exeption *cough DBZ cough* but other than that, i just find a series boring

My top 3 most boring anime's:

3) Love Hina ( i found Love Hina very boring...just kinda repedidtive and plenty of sencless violence )

2) Escaflowne ( Hey, what can I say? I fell asleep during it.. :sweat: )

1) DBZ ( Hate! But i think the worst part about DBZ is all of the DBZ fanboy's :mad: )

LUNAR was developed into an full length movie animation back in 1998, and it premiered as a double-feature with The End of Evangelion. It was called "Magic School LUNAR," and was based on the Sega Gamegear game of the same name. I heard it was good, but the chances of finding it (even on the internet) are very hard these days.

As for the animes shown on TV these days...ugh. They always take good series and kiddy-ize and americanize them down. (with the exception of shows like YuGiOh, that's bad enough to begin with...)

If you know me, you know I love Cardcaptor Sakura, but the english version was just atrocious. How is the name "Tomoyo" in any way similar to "Madison"???

Its hard for people to remember japanese names (I guess their target market being little children for cardcaptors) so they change it to an english name. I think that cardcaptors is horrible because they cut out all these episodes then decided to plop them back in at the end and they completely ruined the characters by removing any emotion or anything that would make that character who they are. I mean "Madison" sounds like a cocky valley girl who obviously doesnt like Sakura as much compared to its japanese counterpart. All the voices are way too deep for the girls and kero and way too high for the guys :mad:

Whenever I watch dubbed anime, all I see is something that is washed, Americanized, and toned down for the "average" American viewer. Translators rip out anything related to the Japanese culture and paste in unrelated gimmicks in an attempt to salvage what mess they had left. It's really sad to say that CCS is one of the many victims of dubbing. CCS is definitely one of the better animes released by Clamp.

A little off topic, but does anyone find it funny when Japanese sieyuus try to pronounce English words? I just finished Azumanga Daioh and it is hilarious when the characters try to talk in english ^^

I am bored so I will start some controversy.

I didn't much care for the movie Akira, I think it was/is over-rated.
I'm sure it has some deep meaning, but once I start seeing teddy bears come to life and milk bleeding out of their eyes, it's enough for me to figure out what pipe they were smoking when they made the movie.

I also don't care for how they treat women in most animes:
General role of women in animes:

I agree with you. I like Akira and consider it a milestone in anime, but it is very low on my list of favourites.

I also agree with you on the role of women. In shounen anime, they're basically there as the token females and for gratuitous fanservice. I find that this gets in the way of many would-be-great series. Have you ever seen Ai Aoi Ayoshi? I'd say it's a beautiful show, if it weren't for all the damn nudity.

That's one of the reasons I prefer shoujo over shounen. I find girls' series to be much more realistic, and the good ones don't offer the "cheap romance" you'd find in other series...
