I'm a lowbie stuck in sylph

I'm currently a 15 RDM and do not have the gil for a world transfer to a more popular server with active linkshells, what should I do?

World transfers do not incur a Gil fee, it is an operation that costs real money.

If you're just Lv15 you could restart on a new server, maybe?

Re: I'm a lowbie stuck in sylph

Balfree is correct mate, it cost real life money to transfer to another server.
If you make another character on another server if you decide on Remora Our linkshell will be glad to have you and offer guidance.

Re: I'm a lowbie stuck in sylph

Just as said before, it costs real money to transfer, but seeing as you are only lvl 15 at this moment, you can create a new character. You can join the Alexander server as well if you want to. I have a linkshell that is real friendly to others.

Is Sylph so bad as all that, or is it the starting areas?

Also my nation is in last VERY OFTEN so I can't get good stuff from the merchants.... who should I contact for a pearl with your LSes? Oh yea which nation should I pick?

Re: I'm a lowbie stuck in sylph

You are going to run into the same issue anywhere you go. The reason most people are in groups in the Dunes is BECAUSE its not safe to solo there at 15. Put up your party flag or ask people in the zone if they have room for you in their parties. Be more proactive.

If you are DETERMINED to solo, go to la theine, or konschat, or buburimu. Just have your flag up at all times. There are plenty of people who want to sync their jobs to lower lvls for easy xp w/ PL, as well as people lvl'n subjobs, so just keep at it.

It also takes forever to get to the dunes from bastok, I also don't know how often I should buy new armor from the AH, and I don't have a whole lot of gil

Field Manual - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more

General Guide as to what to kill. At 15 you should be able to do many of the FoV pages in Konschtat Highlands, La Theine Plateau or Tahrongi Canyon depending on what is closer to you. Dune parties aren't always faster then soloing.

Re: I'm a lowbie stuck in sylph

Bastok and San d'oria are probably the easiest of the three to get to the dunes. I feel sorry for people that start in Windurst.
With my character I levelled the starting jobs to level 10 and sold my crystals on the auction house to get some gil. I paid particular attention to bees and sold stacks of their beehive chips (12) and honey (12) for roughly 3000gil each sometimes getting lucky and getting more than that.
Then I decided on which job I'd like to continue as (for me it was white mage) and after hitting the shops for some new fancy gear I slowly headed my way to the dunes to party.

I wouldnt recommend starting as a mage as there is so much to buy in regards to gear and spells also. As for doing missions they arent really important to begin with until you have a few levels under your belt. As a general rule of thumb for missions I tend to add a 0 (zero) to the rank to give me a rough Idea what level I should be before attempting to continue. Eventually you will find your own rhythm and also have friends to assist.

Our linkshell is pretty fun we try to help our members as much as possible, We have quite a few new players that currently are doing quite well.

Re: I'm a lowbie stuck in sylph

It takes a few years. Not just a single year. To get your first 75 you need to play about for a year. Then you need to lvl up your sub(s), and then a second level 75, then you can get into the real fun of the game.
