| Junior Member  |   Roleplaying Friendly Server?
Greetings, I am a new player (box's in the mail) and, in several of the other MMORPGs I've played, I noticed that there is usually one or two unofficial roleplaying servers. Is there such a thing in this game as well? I’d love to be able to roleplay without being laughed at. Oh and, on an unrelated note, why DO people laugh at roleplayers and/or people who take the time to write in a correct English? |

People will laugh or criticize what they don't understand, that's just how things are. And criticizing someone because of how they type goes both ways, there's also a lot of grammar/correctness obsessed people out there who do exactly the same.  About a roleplaying Server I can't think on a single RP focused one, although there are some roleplaying linkshells that have posted about it on this site. Just do a search for roleplaying.

There are no official roleplaying servers, and the closest thing you'll find to an unofficial one is that some servers have roleplaying linkshells. Though I've no idea where any of those are. People laugh when they are amused. Duh. The slightly deeper answer: Laughter is the "all clear" response to perceived threats. A non-RPer sees you RPing and, because it is outside the range of their experience, wonders why. Perhaps they're missing something? Are you crazy? Are they the butt of some joke? Oh. No. You're just an RPer. Are you spelling words with all their consonants because you're angry? Are you making fun of them? Oh. No. You're just one of those proper English people. (And, as Raydeus said, this one is easy to completely reverse.) All clear, hahaha. It's a self-reassurance mechanism.
