World Server Change... A question.

Hi all.
I'll start off by giving a brief background.

Yes, I'm moving servers (reluctantly) to escape drama.

My boyfriend dumped me a year ago, and when he did so he told me he would leave FF and let me play (since he didn't like it anymore). <---note that he was a real life boyfriend, and I got HIM to play it in the first place. Yayimageek.

I admit, I didn't play FF for a few months. I'm not completely heartless. And no, I didn't take any of his gear or anything malicious or evil like that--he was the evil one.

And now a year has passed, and I am getting over the damage he has done on the server. Avoiding an entire linkshell because it's impossible to make them understand that I was not the bad guy is extremely tiring.


I recently did a search in the dunes to see how many people were probably camping the fly.

Long story incredibly short: it was him. He even joined up with the LS he himself turned against me.


Seeming as how just the mere thought of him turns my stomach over and brings me to tears, I've decided to leave. I even have a friend coming with me.



I hear that servers are pretty evened out with players and all that, is this true? I've searched but can't find the exact information I need.


I really don't WANT to do this, but he isn't quitting even after one of our mutual friends tried to get him to go (read: asked him politely). It seems like I have no other choice, so this is why I'm posting.


I'm seeking the help of fellow community members on FFXIonline.com. Please help me with my little predicament



A little more direct: What should I do in this situation? Move/Not move?, and if I should move and just get away from him... which server would be a good choice?

Anyway, since for most of FFXI's existence you were randomly placed on servers, they are pretty much all the same. The whole reason for the random placement was to ensure that.

Well yes I know technically WHY he's back on, but the thing is he was told about world server changes. I don't know a guy who wouldn't want to get away from his ex especially when he's said he has friends on another server. The reason I feel he's staying is to hurt me because he KNOWS it hurts me. ugh >< i admit this is really dramatic but he's just so arrogant and selfish it's bothering me.

Changing servers shouldn't be done lightly, since there are some consequences to the move other than having to join new linkshells and meet new people. It's something I've actively considered because of my own healthy doses of worthless drama, and despite the fact that I have three really great linkshells with awesome people I'm still considering the move.

I did notice that you have something going for you. Judging by your job levels, you seem to either not play much or are still somewhat new to the game. This means you can probably jump servers easily without attracting much attention from more active players and the endgame crowd, who tend to be more involved in server drama.

And yes, If you do jump I'd recommend going to Kujata and joining the growing FFXIO family.

ah i haven't updated my game info in a bit, but yeah I certainly am not into endgame stuff.
to be honest most of my friends were taken from me when my boyfriend dumped me (he spun a LOT of things in his favor), and I never really got through that. I have one or two friends, but I can get along with just about anybody if i really tried haha.

Sometimes you need to start over, period. If you feel so bad about remaining in your current server and want to keep playing XI then just move.

You can either pay for moving your char or delete it and start over in another server, but the choice is yours to make.

thank you very much. I'm going to resent moving but i feel like the weight lifted off of my heart will be well worth the 25$ or so.

Indeed, Asura isn't the place to go, because it isn't Kujata.

TBH, this sounds like one of those things that someone like Aksannyi could really relate to, since she's one of our players that's also married to another player (if I understand that situation correctly). She's also a mother of two (three?), so she's got a lot on her hands, but she somehow manages to keep it all down.

But yar, come to Kujata (tosses the Giant Clue Bat at KaXXii). DO EEEET! Besides, all the fun's here anyways!
