Looking for a Adult LS (EST), any server

I've recently returned to FFXI and would like to find a adult link shell that I could join. I'm willing to play on any server.

Like, free to curse and swear w/o damaging the kiddie's ears? Or....a little "how do you do" know what I mean, know what I mean, say no more, say no more?

If its the former, then the majority of ls's don't care too much about cursing so long as you don't curse more than you say normal words. If the majority of your sentences are a string of curses hung together with an article and preposition or two, then you're gonna have much harder time finding an acceptable ls for you.

Guess I should just say mature. I'm not really looking to unleash a torrent of swearing or anything bad. I'm pretty quiet and dont swear at all.

I'm a 39 year old looking for a social group that I can identify with.

Ah, ok phew. I guess because you capitalized it made me think you were looking for an "adult" linkshell in the meaning of being sexually-oriented. I don't doubt such a thing exists. >.>;

Anyway, the linkshell I'm in on Lakshmi is populated mostly by 20something adults, many parents, a couple high school-aged people and a couple older. At 39 I'd guess that you're past the middle of the bell curve as far as FFXI's age distribution goes (not to suggest there's anything wrong with that), so I doubt you'd find a shell populated with very closely-aged peers but our group is mature and maybe similar enough in experience and situation to you that you probably wouldn't have much of any trouble jumping into our little sub-culture.

We don't have a hard rule about profanity, other than to watch your language during the day since a lot of us have reading-age kids. During USA night when they're asleep there're a few more four-letter words. Other than that we just ask that you be respectful of your shellmates and help others out as much as you can. We're big onto the "pay it forward" principle.

hm.. I wonder if there might be a way to search for a server with higher aged players?

I was in a LS that was a nice, friendly group who liked helping. It wasn't until later on that we realized that all of us were very Adult ^~ For instance, one is a grandparent, another is a guy who takes care of the kids at home, and another is ... well, enuf about that.

It also ended up being a great place to come back to for people (like me) who needed a 'place' they could come back to after a long period of time when they could not play (with out practically having to start all over again finding a new LS, not wanting to impose on people you don't know, and so on).

Bit off taskmage, i'd say the average age for FFXI players is around 29. We have all types... used to know a grandpa that played.

I wouldn't worry too much about maturity... from everything i've seen, it fades in and out about every four years. 10-14, immature, 14-18, most I know are fairly mature (although not all), 18-22, immature, and so on. I wouldn't worry so much about finding a mature LS, there's really more mature FFXI players out there than immature ones from all i've seen. This game and it's community discourages people like that... Or maybe I just ignore them. Either way, try to worry about finding people you get along with and one that has people on when you play (Advice, don't base it off EST or PST or whatever other timezone. There are people that play closer to japanese time than american, and people that play in the middle of the day. Takes all times, try to be more specific, like "5-10 members online from 7-10EST" or something)
