Real Vana'diel opening 12 December

On 12 December, the FFXI dedicated cyber cafe opens in Akihabara. There is a preview event running from 7-11 December and Impress Watch have written a report. Staff is male and female in a 50:50 ratio, with the females wearing FFXI cosplay clothes, including this nice Mithra outfit:

Membership costs 500 yen. Playtime costs 350yen / 30mins, 1900 / 3hrs, 3000 / 5hrs (1pm-midnight), with a special night fee of 2850 yen for 7 hrs (midnight-7am). People who play longer than 20 hours will become a "Repeater user" and get discounts on play price. Also intial people who sign up mid-December will automatically become Repeater users, as well as getting a special FFXI calendar.

The shop itself has 22 machines, each with a 21 inch monitor, comfy seats and decent setup, as well as letting users connect laptop machines to a wireless LAN to access FFXI webpages while they play - pretty neat!

They also have a stack of FFXI books, magazines etc, and you can play FFXI in either English or Japanese:

OMG its my setup! only at home ^^

take that picture w/ the computer/laptop in it, and replace the laptop with an iBook(mac laptop for those of you living in a hole), and remove the ps2 controller(getting that changed soon though), and you've got my desk :D

with other random crap on it ofcourse
