Thanks for the pointer on calculating magic damage. Since it was 454 with Ebullience, looks like he actually has more INT than I do---454/(1.1*1.2) is about 344. Damn, I really wanted that to be a half resist.

In that fight, no, he didn't cast Shell. He casted Regen (2? I can't remember) after I hit him with Stone IV and the book tossed him a Cure 3. That last Stone IV would have taken him down to 14%, assuming the 1300 total HP number listed @ wikia is correct.
