My impression was that you're finding WAR difficult to level because of the lack of party invites, and wanted advice on making that easier. If that's the case, MNK will be the easiest way to solve that. WAR/DRG may be a great DD after 20, but most party leaders aren't going to know that, and I wouldn't count on it being much of a tank. Everyone knows WAR/MNK and knows it makes a great tank or DD through the 30s. It's the easy answer to getting more invites, though obviously there are no guarantees. NIN falls into that category as well, but only after 24 (and MNK is still generally better for a good chunk of that, it's just that people don't think so).

Also make sure you're setting up a decent search comment. Put in you TNL even though no one reads it, put in whether you're willing to tank, whether you're willing to pull ("{Ranged Attack} O"), put in that you have food, etc. Get your Rank as high as you can.

If you're just finding it difficult to actually play the job, it might help to know what you are doing to give you specific advice. Gear and food are hugely important for melee jobs. Always get the best you can. STR rings, and maybe DEX (wear the DEX for normal melee if you need ACC, then swap in STR for weaponskills). Meat Jerky is cheap from NPCs and can last you quite a while. Rice Dumplings or Jack O'Lanterns if you'd like more accuracy. Boiled Crab for defense.
