Long story short, Altana got a bit weepy over Promathia laying down the law on the Zilart, dropped 5 tears on Vana, bam, the 5 races. No 6th tear or anything, so no chance of any new races, thus, any new ones that are intro'd? Mess up the storyline.
As for the pissed off players? That's just Febaspeak for "I don't want it in 'my' game" or something equally anal and anti-social. That can be safely ignored.
