This is pretty stupid of you. People form linkshells in this game for a multitude of reasons. Being of a like mind is near the top of the list. Sharing a religion is just one example of said like-mindedness.
The OP was simply looking for a shell of people who share some of his beliefs. I haven't the slightest clue why some of you are so invested in telling him how wrong he is for that.
