The ??? in question will spawn a Goblin Archaeologist. You can only trade him items once per day I believe, and he will spawn with a level identical to the one that spawned him (I think), and he can be tough if you're not prepared.
As for drops, it's mostly random stuff as far as I know.  Insert spiffy signature here |
