You can cast Cursna on yourself if you're cursed. I don't know why you would have gotten the idea that you can't.

I read a post above and assumed I couldn't use it on myself. I was seemingly misguided

You probably targeted your macros wrong when you tried to cast cure spells on the ghouls.

I don't use macros, and never have. I found them too complicated. I may have targeted myself in the process, though i'm not sure. I'll just try again next time I'm logged in.
