Yeah, sure you question why the excersise and play options are even there to bother with huh? Well from my experience they seem to work in combination with carry packages. For the ones were you get money for it seems you get faster and better improvements if the chocobo succeeds in doing the care plan and not dropping them all over the place. Some reason those other before it helps buffer that effect so it's more likely to succeed and therefore improves the gain of a stat.
