I have several comments to make on this, so I guess I'll start here:

There is a spell or trait called "Flee"
Away from the game I cannot remember which job uses it, but I think it increases the speed of a player for a certain length of time. Now, if the player with that job had this spell/trait enabled while riding a chocobo...... would it make any difference to the riding speed or would it still be the same as usual? |
Flee gives you the speed of about a chocobo, however, you cannot use it while on the chocobo. It lasts about a minute I think, and you can only use it every 15 minutes. So, unless you are incredibly cheap and don't have to go very far in a timely manner, I suggest sticking with the chocobo.
And, I really don't mean to sound rude here, but veer off the damn paths

The paths are there mainly for decoration, they do not get you anywhere in a timely manner. As you get into higher leveled areas, you will notice that there are no paths. I never had a problem with remembering what direction I'm supposed to go with maps, so I really can't relate to your problem. However, I will tell you that there is a compass in the bottom left corner above the chat log. Use it. You will come to find that that is your path, and should always be.
Print off maps if you have problems steering with autorun. But, eventually, you will get used to it. Again, I never had a problem with this, but I can see how it can be difficult to those who aren't used to multitasking. Once you get more familiar with areas and where they go these problems will dissapate, but until then, good luck.
Oh, and always remember

And, according to your other questions, it seems you simply lack experience. You need to get out and observe more. If you have a level 30 WHM you should very well know why mage jobs aren't good subs for melees. I don't know what you've been doing these past thirty levels, but you need to learn as you go. Ask questions about how things work in parties or in you linkshell. If you are going to pursue any new job, you need to know about it first. Parties are the best way to find out how things work, especially with a job as complicated as THF.
I'm not sure how to put this...but there is no other way:
MAGES AND MELEES NEVER MIX. The
only acceptions to this rule is when you are soloing with BST or you are a RDM, and RDM even has it's limitations.
NIN and WAR are the best subs for THF because they raise strength, speed, and give you all sorts of neat abilities. ESPECIALLY NIN. WHM gives you nothing.
Nothing. Your DEX and AGI are lower than they could and should be, and you have a bunch of useless cure spells that you will never use.
I'm sorry about being so blunt...but you really need to get out some more :\ Observe things; learn with
and without questions.
EDIT: Sorry about the double post...wrong button I guess.
