Re: server migrations
How it has worked in the past is S-E announces that migrations are open both on Playonline Viewer and their main website. Once that announcement is made, they usually list the high concentration servers and then list lower concentration servers they will be migrating people to. In the last one, for instance, Diabolos server was linked up with Hades this way so that I could've migrated over to Hades if I so desired. Once that announcement is made, the rest is plunked into your lap.

1. If you want to move to the specified server, you have to physically log yourself in and go visit a new NPC in one of the starting cities. Usually it's a red-armored fellow named "World Shifter", or something like that. There was one in Port San d'Oria that I remember mocking for a good bit, just in case anyone was recording how silly looking I thought his armor was.

2. Talking to the World Shifter will give you the conversation option to move to the new server. I believe there's a confirmation screen that shows up as well. I've heard that you also get a confirmation email on the POL system to further confirm. If you haven't logged into your POL email account in awhile, (or ever), you may want to head over to Navigator and familiarize yourself with it just in case.

3. You only get to choose to move to one server, not two or three options or any of them at random. They've said in the past they may change this system later on, but I suspect the programmers have nightmares about every NA player hitting up Ragnarok to visit the old importers or something of that nature. If certain servers get flagged as being just for a certain Nation/Region, you end up with really lopsided bandwidth and over/underuse periods.

4. If you choose to move one character, you have to repeat the same process with every single character you want to make the move. While they will cap the number of players moved, they will never separate you from your mules/alts if they can help it. You just have to remember to move over every character from your account that you still want, or it gets left behind on the old server. While you may still want a mule left on the old server to keep touch with your old friends, it is advisable you move your Kirin's Pole, etc. off that mule before you do so.

That's essentially how it works, usually after the registration period has closed they will wait about a week and then make the actual moves in the next server maintenance. Also, the Xbox 360 just barely went live with TAU, so there is a pretty good chance that they'll add another opportunity to move. We also had an influx of players with TAU, so pretty soon they'll have an idea of who's staying with the game. I remember they had two moves with the PS2 launch, or at least a move a month or two after it launched when they had a decent idea of server stats.
