If you can get your skills up to about 60 in cooking, you can HQ your broths and food some of the time.

Lets say you want to use Courrier Carrie as a pet for an important mission or something. Well, a stack of Fish oil broths goes for 17-20k on my server. Or.....You can buy a few stacks of Sardines and HQ some for yourself. Rate of HQ on Carrion broth, Meat broth and Carrot broth is much higher as well. I can get HQ tiger pet almost 50% of the time, and a stack is 15k at AH.

As for pet food, the better ones are higher level and harder to HQ, but you can get HQ constantly on alpha, delta and gamma biscuits.

Seeing as its the cheapest craft to get to 60, but also the least profitable, its best to level it for your own personal use, and small gil gains if youre willing to take the time to sell. Good sellers are insect paste stacks. Pure profit, but only sell for 400-600 each. Crayfish balls also sell well. Foods used for battle are really only profitable if you can HQ them. Using ingredients that you have received via battle or had lying around helps with that as well. Farming for ingredients is not helping any though, because of the time it takes vs price for the ingredients.
