I rent them all the time. I'm not freakin walking to Boyhada Tree everytime... You definately don't need Chocobos as much when you have airship pass, but you still need them.
Castle Oztroja is by far the hardest magicite to reach. Davoi and Beadeaux are so easy its a sin. Hard part about Beadeaux is the NM's. Wait at the entrance and have the BLM go and kill the 2 NM while you lot on the items. Multiple drop every time, so no thf sub needed.
Davoi is simply walk in, take the path on right, cross bridge, turn left, and enter wall. 30 secs. Just have to watch for the orcs guarding the wall. Make sure their backs are turned, drop invis, and click on it. Once you are inside zone is right there in case you get aggro. Warning, you can't enter if you have aggro as a poor WHM found out the other night when I was there. I helped him out, but he was freaking because he thought he could enter even if orc was attacking. Nope, he would have died.
