As far as actually doing this, it works. Instead of increasing my back buffer, I actually decreased it because my laptop does not handle FFXI as well as I would have hoped. So instead of 512x512 which looks like ass, and instead of 1024x1024 which makes my videocard wheeze when weather effects kick in, I settled for in between with 768x768. Works perfectly for what I need.
As far as the whole textures issue, the quality will not be improved by increasing the back buffer since the game was written with 1024x1024 in mind, but aliasing issues will be lessened. |
