Be careful: this is a thread relating to Shields, and in a Paladin forum.
So, please redirect any and all Red Mage indignation to the appropriate forum for the sake of avoiding off-topicness.
I know I went pretty off-topic with my side rant, but at least I was replying to something, and defending Red Mages' right to use the Kite Shield (as per the Shield theme of the thread). You . . . kinda came out of nowhere.
So, again, please be careful and remain on topic.
