It can be in certain situations. For soloing it can be good if you need to make an escape. However for the majority of your FFXI career /WAR or /THF is preferred.

simply put, no. 90% of your XP-ing time you will want to stick to mage/mage or melee/melee combinations. the other 10% you will figure out as you get more experience with the game.

When you solo, you can go with BLM, but WHM is a better sub, even though any spell is going to produce the wyvern's Healing Breath. Which this is for DRG/??? of course.

Drg/blm is just plain fun tho people you cant lie dont exp with it but when your having one of those days... drg/blm lets you kill everything lol. FIRE FIRE FIRE lol

I dont think that nuking with a /blm for drg would be all that hot. Even stocking up on INT gear, you'll have a low INT score in comparison to a mage main. Also all your mage abilities (element, dark etc) will be halved. I whm/blm could prob out dmg you on elemental magic.

I didn't mean it rocks for casting necessarily. It kicks ass because you can heal yourself for very little mp and get a little additional damage while doing so.

In summary, no. Drg/Whm is good, but definately not going to get you 75. Sub warrior and sub thief.

So all in all you'll be needed a Whm sub for Blm, a War and Thf sub for Drg, and probably a Mnk sub for War.

You say BLM as your first job.. but as you play, you'll realize it's better to have multiple jobs leveled to some point, to find out what best sub is. Wrong or bad subs will never get party invites though.
