  • Game regions

Hello all, I'm new to the game. Having tried the EU trial (couldn't seem to find a US client to go with the trial key..) I went and tried to track down a copy of the game I could purchase.

At first glance I can't seem to see a difference between EU and the US versions of the game, are they the same?

As I'm in New Zealand, in most other MMO's I've played US was the matching region for my location and since the time-zones are opposite I don't particularly want to be on EU specific servers if there is in fact a difference.

If anybody can shed some light on this I'd be very appreciative.

The servers themselves aren't region specific, and most have healthy North American, European and Japanese populations on them so there's always someone on. Whether or not you can talk to them without the auto-translator is another matter however.

The different is what currency you pay in and what payment methods are accepted. Also, you can't edit a US account's billing information on an EU version, and can't use US registration codes for an EU install. Expansions must match the region of your account to have valid registration codes.
